• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1981 250 WR---Pros & Cons

I don't completely understand your reply. Do you prefer the 82 model? What do you mean by primary kick engine??

I have a 1979 250WR and a 1983 250WR, the 1979 requires you to put the bike in neutral to kick it, the 1983 you can just pull in the clutch (in gear) and kick it (like a modern bike). This is why the primary kick are better.
My 1983 "milk truck" WR is one of my favorites.

Regards,
Team WR

Don't the brake/wheel hub change to? equal lenght spokes? I just take for granted that the 83 is my best one (so far)
(the 40 mm forks are a big deal)

Having said what's been said is the 1981 250 WR a good bike??????? Aside from fork size and having to start in neutral????????????

In my opinion ...... yes !
I have to start my 78 in neutral. No big deal.
The 81's are a good looking bike. Done right they are stunning.

I second that, 1981 WR is a nice bike, things can always be upgraded if you want or left as is

its a husky, its a good bike..they made some improvements over the next few years. the "primary kickers" is the next gen they came out with, and is what the liquid cooled bikes used as well in the 80s. the 81 uses an engine platform dating back into the 70s. nothing wrong with that, just a big difference between the 81 and 82 models. more power, stronger kick starting, better reeds, etc. still a great bike
