• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thanks, I'll look for one of the newer stepped style rods and use the longer arm. I hope the push rod isn't too bad, is there a measurement for that, I didn't see it in the manual. Thanks
im not sure, the rods seem to hold up much better than the cams.
you can always use the slightly shorter clutch arm as well if you experience problems with complete clutch engagements due to the longer arm.

I finally got the piston and cylinder installed. The frame is at blasting and the powder should be here by Monday. I still have to blast the fork lowers and axle plates, I am also thinking of using the powder on the tank. I am still looking for a chain tensioner and chain guide. So if you have one to spare I'm interested. I also have two declutching rods and can't remember which was original or which came with the replacement case half. If you know please chime in. Thanks Chris

Your question about the origin of the levers was answered above. You can weld up and grind the cams on the assemblies to correct the wear.

Also when you got the motor back together adjust the timing, to the Husky service update bulletin, not to the standard spec, or you'll
be kicking it alot...
Anyone got a copy of this bulletin?
Thanks Justin and jim, I'll weld them both up and see how they feel. I'm not sure which levers I have I haven't got that far yet.

I checked the bulletins that MOFO generously host (Thanks MOFO) and found 2.8mm btdc an 2.64mm btdc, using a gauge in the plug hole. Is there really that much difference in .16mm? I can not find the number for 1983

Looks like I need a clutch cover, DANG IT!

Yeah, it's already been welded, right in the insignia. And a nice dent under the insignia. I'm really looking for a later style cover with the removable clutch cover. This will do for now, but like a lot of this bike it's pretty beat. I got the frame and swing arm back from the blaster, so I have to do some welding and a little cleanup of the original welds in spots. Lots of splatter and such. I also got my powder so should be white next week. Thanks guys. Chris

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!!

An artisan can weld and hand carve the insignia. You can also use JB Weld and save the case from heat distortion. I only weld now when the repair is stressed structural.

Yeah, I got a whole setup, BUT I found a platter nearby that will do all that for 100$! It would take me 2 days and it still wouldn't turn out as nice as the job they do. I still have to check each piece to file ridges and straighten stuff. What you put in is what you get out, just shinny. We're movin' on up, to the east side!!

Just want to know if these belong on this frame? The one on the left looks legit, but the one on the right looks like we found an artisan!:busted:
