• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1985 CR500 Project Bike by Husky 37

Real clean look there. Still can't believe how nice and period correct the gear looks.

Is the gear all stuff you've had from back in the day, or more recently acquired?

Helmet, Gloves, jeans (including boot covers), Face Mask are all original.

I had the jersey made with all the old logos. Still got some old jerseys but they look a bit tatty. Still got my original Oakleys but the elastic has gone on both pairs. My AXO boots, although leather OK the plastic has suffered so I got a pair of White Sidi...

Just tried to be authentic as possible.... looked nice for a while :)

hi mate like what u doin.i am just about 2 do resto on my 86 cr 500.clutch case a bit damaged.would another year fit eg-85 or 87. thanks dude good luck with rebuild, long live the beast.

Hi Paddy boy,

Any of the 2-Stroke water cooled clutch cases will fit 85-88 I believe but not the 4-strokes as they do not have a breather tube

I have 85 CR 500 just rebuilt motor board 20 over Can someone halp me when I try to start my bike when you hold a little bit of throttle it back followers

Sorry to hear that. It does seem to slow you up. Funny thing is I've had a dodgy back since '78 but it never went whilst I was racing :) ......

Riding uses the back strap muscles big time and they support your discs, get a little sedentry and bugger me , my backs gone.... get the pushbike out and do a 15 - 20 ride each day and you will be good as gold.

Still having some problems the bike runs great almost has too much power can kickstart it every now and again but it's still backfiring don't know if the timing is off have a little bit more plastic work on it it's not cheap can not understand why it is backfiring could it be getting too much feel any information is appreciated

timing sounds like yr problem advance a small amount. try a new spark plug, check electrical connectionsand tbe earth.

Advancing the timing will cause it to backfire more. Retard the timing (firing closer to top dead center) will decrease backfiring.

I had same problem several times....
Put two pieces of wood at the top and bottom and push in the middle very gently...
it is aluminum and its very easy to fix in that way.
Dont push too much, anyway.
