• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1985 Husky 500 CR restoration

the frame ist whiter than white ... the sm rims are looking great .. have the same one at my 430 in black .. but the gold one are looking much better ☺

Engine problems mainly solved. I found a used cylinder from US, used crank halves (like new) from close to me, old stock Wiseco piston (when their quality was good), new NOS left case from our local Husky dealer. Seems that Finland has plenty of good used or new Husky parts.:)

Today I made my first part order from hva- factory. Let`s see how long it takes to arrive to rainy Finland.:)

Some new parts fitted. The forks are original -85, there will be -87 forks but the chrome was bad so I had to send them to have a new chrome.

No, everything was perfect. I ordered the rims straight from the factory, specially drilled for husky.

It has been quiet for a while. The engine should be ready this week. Let`s see how that de- compression valve works, I added it just to save the kickstart mechanism and cases.

Today we dropped the engine in its place. There is still plenty of work to do but it is getting closer...

I just fitted the engine with new uprated clutch from HVA- Factory. I just can`t believe how light is the clutch lever pull, it is a lot lighter than my CRF Honda. If I remember right, these old Huskies clutch pull was really hard, at least they were on the 80`s. Are these new cables so much better than the old ones back then? I use honda cr lever and perch because of the better ergonomics. How is your Husky`s clutch pull, is it mega hard or really light??
