  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 1997 RM125, anyone ever have one?

If anyone has some crap laying around let me know, looking for...

7/8" mountable hand guards
skid plate
o-ring chain (used is fine if it has life left)
rear sprocket
clutch lever

Jake donated a front sprocket.

fun.
pm me your address i have a set of oem suzuki levers for ya .

Big boring the 90's RM125's is a bit more work and less return than the Husky. 133 is easy, 139 is doable but the liner is getting thinner and the cases need some work to get clearance. Really need to stroke the motor to get those years beyond 139 and that is always more moolaa. If you are going to stroke it then go the route and get it out to 155. Only about $2K realistically by the time you are done. I would consider doing the 139 kit you can buy direct from one of the sleeve companies when the top end is shot. You could always shoe horn a Husky 165 motor in there! Probably cheaper than the stroker kit.

Probably not going to do any of that on this $200 bike. :D If it was EZ and i liked the bike down the road maybe but sounds like to much effort / $$$ for this loaner sled.

Hi I had one of the bikes and the gearboxes in them are very poor. I Had to replace 2nd gear twice and then it started dropping out of 2nd gear in to neutral so I sold it. My friend had a 2000 rm 125 and he's gearbox went twice.

that sucks. We will see.

Are you still looking for hard guards? I have a brend new set of Acerbis (RED) in the package.

I have a 2000 RM 125 at home and a 2000 Husky CR 125. Both seem to have equal amount of time on them. The RM gearbox is mush compared to the husky. I see barely no wear on the husky gears and I had to replace 4 gears in the RM tranny. Still love my RM though. Nice bike. It's a 134 now...

Not liking all these transmission issue stories. Hopefully it is OK, rode it around my house up to about 3rd or so and was fine. Old Joe will be EZ on it. He's not a banger.

need anything else? My house just sold and i have to lose a couple semi loads of bike junk still.

Not sure what. Was just with Jake and he said the same thing. We went up to Woodland and i got a piston kit for the RM as it has low compression. Cylinder looks great. He gave me hand guards, chain and tires. good stuff. Might take Joe riding this weekend if i can find the time. Thanks everyone.

BUT, I need to talk with you and see what you have, might need to hoard some crap :>)

BTW i did take the bike for a short shake down ride the other day and it worked pretty darn good. Turns crazy quick, Motor despite being tired was good mid and top. Front brake is crazy husky strong, bike feels smaller and lighter than the huskys, forks works well, shock needs some love. Bike worked fine, Joe should love it.
