  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2008 TC 510 Warranty Question?

Husqvarna
C Class
I have less than 5 hours on my new TC 510, I was at the Dunes yesterday and went to kick start the bike, the starter kicked back and cracked the engine case right open like an egg. Will this be covered under warrant? Anyone else had this problem? It was a nightmare to get the bike back to the trailer!

Hey, sorry about your bike. The kick start shaft on my 09' TC510 busted off earlier this year. Lucky for me, it was just the shaft. It cost around $250-300 to fix, but Dan at MotoXotica really hooked me up. MotoXotica fixed the bike in an afternoon. Took about a week to get the part.
Anyway, the engine kicked back and the kick starter flew through the air, right at the starting gate before a moto. It wasnt covered under warranty, but your situation might be different. The good part of this story is, I found Cafe Husky trying to find anwsers and I'm hooked to the site now.. Here is a picture:

Also, find out through your dealer, if there was a recall on your kick starter. I know there was for the 2009 model, not sure about 2008.

I have a buddy with a 2008 TC 250... Similar to what happened to Dan's bike but the bolt sheared inside the case and broke a ring on the kickstart shaft... Motor ran fine but sounded horrible.

Malcolm Smith did the repair work for under $300. (cases ok)

Had to wait over 7 weeks to get the broken part. I even called Motoexotica to find out about parts for him but the parts were on the slow boat at the time. Not even Motoexotica could help and they are the best!

Call your dealer. Have them talk to Husqvarna and see if they can get them to cover it.

Sounds like the '08's are having a lot of issues with this.

Anyone with input on the recall? 08? 09?

If you don´t open the trotlle gas when you start the engine his problem doens´t happens.. It´s a 4stroke not a 2 stroke...
Any way in some causes Husqvarna give warranty.. Because it´s a structural problem.. If you have all manutences done in a oficial dealer and are date I tkink you can try repair under warranty...

I never had open/crack the throttle when starting my bike, like everyone have always said here, when cold 2 twist of throttle choke out and when hot just the red knob out and she is alive within 1-2 kicks. If you do a search this have been covered few times if you open/crack the throttle like a 2 stroke when kicking it, it will kick you back and chance of damage to your leg and or the bike.

yes ....this should be covered if your dealer has a good warranty person or you could contact the home office yourself...call customer service and start the process..get a reference #..I have the exact same bike ...it is killer to mx on..have a flywheel weight and lots of other minor mods...had your problem..was fixed under warranty..no problem ever since.....no need to open throttle...bike rocks!!!..be patient
