  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 2008 WR 250 Restoration Thread

Thanks for the reply.. Was hoping you were in Ontario so I might use the same powder coater.. But BC is a little far from here.. Checked out the OPP Racing website and they distribute Samco hoses which are same manufacturer as mine.. I hope you ordered a long while ago because they can take about 8 weeks to receive them (or at least mine did).. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your re-build.. Cheers.. :)

Yeah I ordered them about 6 weekgo and the nice thing is the Canadian distributor is right by my work. Ordered the red hoses.

These are with the guards installed. These fit nicely and are so far my favorite guards/braces. The last ones I had were just wrap around guards and they did nothing to protect from bending.

Best rad brace install technique I have seen yet! Put them on a bare frame and don't worry about all the hoses and wires and such getting in the way. :applause:

Sand blasting the original paint off was the costly part. I used a you blast place and it ran me 175 bucks. The powder coating wasaround 145. The silicone hoses are from a company called OPP Racing I got my hoses in red to contrast of the black frame. I belive they are located in the UK as well. Last answer to youy question I live in the lower mainland of BC.
Nice work on the bike. It sure is nice to be able to work on our bikes when the weather is bad outside
BTW you might check around if you do another resto. The guy I use charged me 30$ for the sandblast and 100 to powdercoat my frame and a set of hubs. He does excellent work, most of his business is with Frieghtliner.
The thing about sanblasting is you need a 20HP compressor or bigger to run a big nozzle, which gets the job done Pronto.

So I got some good news I got my last thing ordered which is the X2 HID from TrailTech showen here but I got the Husqvarna graphics kit showen below the first pic. All my plastics and rebuild plus misc parts will arrive at Taskys on Tuesday When the get to my house I'll throw the rest of this restoration of this bike up.

The bike is an animal and the sound it make is almost 4 stroke like. Everything is perfect and this girl does anything with ease just point and go. It will do anything. Any questions just ask.
