• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

2009 TE610 tops out at 120KMH??? HUH!!!

Well dealer rang me today to tell me my bike is all fixed and ready to go. APPARENTLY after fitting the ECU the problem was still there and after more investigation, it was derived that the fuel pump was the fault. A new pump was fitted and now its running perfectly. I havent picked it up yet but i do hope he's right. He did tell me the pump was bench tested many weeks ago and passed all tests????? oh well,

For closure. OK, well i picked up my 610 yesterday and just got back from a 4 hour ride. The bike is running perfectly. Pulls as I would expect and i had it up to 145KMH and it was still pulling hard with plenty left to go so I am satisfied the problem is fixed. The fuel pump was the culprit. Thanks all for your help and hopefully the 610 will now start to be enjoyed :)

Hello there! I'm a new Member from Germany and i just wanted to thank you for this Information as my 08 TE610 also tops out at 120-125 km/h.
I've got the Husky to my Dealer today - I hope it's just the fuel pump as well, as this would be a easy thing.

Have you been able to go faster than 120 km/h at 5. gear?
My Dealer called me today and told me that my TE 610 is allright - I have to gain rpm and speed in 5. gear and shift later as my TE 610 wouldn't increase speed in the 6. gear at ~5200rpm (~120-125 km/h). The TE just don't pull in the 6. gear.

Is this normal or should I put my TE on a Dynojet? I can't believe that it should be normal for a 50HP Bike to behave like that.

btw.: sorry for my poor english, I havent used it for a while

IT's not normal. With stock gearing my 610 got up to 107 MPH and could most definitely pull in all 6 gears. It did have a power-up kit and a Leo Vince and no emissions on it. I've ridden a stock bike with a stock muffler and no power-up kit and I thought it was broken. It was VERY gutless compared to mine.
 
My bike is stock as it is still covered by guarantee (yes, I was able to pick up a brand new TE 610 from 2008 in May 2011).
I guess I simply have to wait until next year and then put another muffler on my bike. It will be a Quat-D as you can throw out the emission control and still looking legal. But that's another story.

Btw.: I got my bike back today. And now I was able to go faster than 120 km/h in 6. gear. I don't know if they did something with it, but it felt better on the way home. But there isn't the power that a Husky deserves - I wouldn't call it pulling in the 6. gear.

Stock in 6th mine wouldn't go past 77-78mph, it got up to the mid 80's in 5th. The stock exhaust is restrictive at the top end.. that said the power-up still makes the bike ride better down low even with the stock exhaust.
 
What do you mean if you talk about "power-up"? Do you mean replacing the O2 Sensor with the Plug? I was told not to replace the sensor as long as there is a catalyzer in the exhaust. They told me that the bike would run too rich on replacing the O2 sensor and then the catalyzer would get plugged.

That is why I would first change the muffler and then replace the O2 Sensor.
 
Stock my bike was too lean at low throttle openings leading to surging causing difficulty riding at slow speed. My 610 has had the o2 sensor removed for ~1500 miles but still has the stock exhaust without any issues.
 
Oh, don't get me wrong. I don't think that the bike wouldn't run properly anymore. My problem is that we have a technical Check by law here in Germany every 2 Years (to be allowed to run bikes and cars on the road). On this test they will check the exhaust gases. If you run your bike too rich, you would harm the catalyzer and won't pass the exhaust test. If you can't pass the exhaust test, you won't be allowed to run the bike on the street anymore.

So I am forced to keep a working exhaust/catalyzer system by hand to put it on the bike for this test every 2 years. That's the reason why I have to change the muffler first and then fiddle around with the O2 sensor removal.

You know, we are so green here in Germany, wie hardly can't breath anymore - think about all of the CO2 we are producing...

another new husky rider here. i had my 09 610 out on the hwy for the first time today and in top gear it was sitting on 5500rpm at about 100km/hr. definitely could not get it near 140 :(

going to see my dealer tomorrow to see what they say.

also had pretty bad steering sway/wobble at near 100km/hr.

hopefully it will be an easy fix.
 
Dunlop 908 (heavy) tire on the rear and I got a pretty bad headshake. Tightening up the rear suspension helped but it never went away til I got rid of that infernal tire. I hated it because it had TOO MUCH traction

I couldn't turn the bike! I like the 606 MUCH better on and off road.
