  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FYI

Went for a ride Sunday and when we took off my bike felt weird and made some rattling noises. Pulled over and found when i put my boot on the motor it all went away. Both front motor mounts were loose. These have nyloc nuts on them but still managed to loosen up. Checkum.

Ahhh, the look of a guy with loose motor mounts...

:D

Later,

I was highly prepared on Sunday as you can tell.

Good thing the Huskys are so easy to work on!

I lost a bolt on the front exhaust mount and when started to put the new one in the threads didn't feel too great. I pulled the muffler to chase the threads. When I was doing that I noticed the top sub-frame bolts were loose from my 300 kit install. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Well at least i did. Jake not having any was part of his preparedness plan.

nahh, I had lots in my big grey tub... even had my fanny pack tool pouch.

Yours were just much easier to access. :busted:

You guys are something else LOL. I know I am the tool man when we all go riding. Some of our friends are lucky if they remember to gas up.

Does gassing up before the ride help? I'm not convinced, I gas up before every ride and still run out of gas nearly every time I ride my Husky. Got 25 miles in Sunday before I had to steal some gas from Jake.

But wait I am on a 4 stroke and you are on a 2 stroke how would that work?

:excuseme:

haha, that and I filled my tank with your mixed gas before the ride because I forgot mine...

Sunday was some day.

Later,

I have ran into this as well. The paint is really thick on the frame and when it wears off, the mounts get loose.

Maybe these bikes should come with a check engine light. Light goes on, you look down and discover the engine fell out a couple of miles back.:D

MSR Elephant ears.

Races like this they are worth their weight in gold just keeping your hands dry. I am the second bike through...

On our ride Sunday it was mid 30's and I was able to rear regular mx gloves without my hands getting cold. Kelly wore two sets of gloves.
