  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TC 250 Kick starter bolt gone!

Hey guys I know we should have lock-tited the bolt but it's the "one" we missed. Anyway, where is the best quickest place to get the bolt and the little steel ball that is missing also. Thanks. BTW if you have a 2010 TC 250 check that bolt too.:banghead:

John, you might be able to find one at a good hardware store. Are you talking about the Bolt that holds it to the shaft or the screw?

Yes the bolt/screw hat holds the kick start lever onto the shaft. It's was a philips head screw (I think) and the little steel ball that goes inside the kick starter itself. Getting a replacement screw shouldn't be a problem but the steel ball may be.

There's actually a bolt that holds the splined kicker mount to the splined shaft the goes into the case. Then there's the phillips head screw that holds the kicker to the mount. Both the screw and the bolt have a tendency to come loose and need periodic attention. I've had the same issue with all brands of bikes I've owned.

Thanks my son talked to somebody at MFI and they will have the parts to us by Friday; we hope. Looks like we need to get some more blue lock-tite.

Locktite is our friend! I can attest that Husky is not the only brand that needs periodic bolt tightening/locktite. All my KTM's were prone to similar problems, and not just the kick starter bolts. Our '09 Honda CRF also had loose case bolts and motor mounts after a few hours... so this is NOT a Husky-only issue.

Oh I know I just missed putting it on this one. I think I am going to give the lock-tite stick type a try since I need more anyhow.

John,

Go figure MFI would have those... We lost ours (screw, oring and the ball) after 10 minutes.. I posted it on the check this loose item post..lol I try to have Billy updated with some flukes.

Thanks Carl mabye we can help the next poor guy. At least we got 20 hrs or so before ours left us. It didn't stop my son from riding. He would start the bike take the kick starter, off set it on a picnic table, and take off for some MX laps LOL.

John,

I'm sure we could... Situation with ours was we never got to use it on the TE with the button.. Linsey from P3 found the kicker where we were out practicing... Our base stayed on.. lol
