As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
There is something that needs to be done to link the ECU to the bike; I can't remember exactly what it was but I was under the impression that it could be done at a dealer rather than at the factory. Also I was told that it doesn't have to be done on the ECUs that come with the titanium pipes (at least the one for the TE450), only on the standard ECUs. It would be interested to know exactly how the link works...Coffee;86021 said:Last I asked - the ecu's for the efi bikes, at least the TE/SMs needed to come from the factory because the vin number needed to be programmed into it.
raisrx251;86042 said:Interesting that your ECU part number is the same. I never looked at the part number of the original ECU. I guess you better not order that then as it looks like they are just re-flashing the existing part number ECU's and not changing the part number. My new ECU does not have the vin number showing up in Ibeat. I also know the bike runs better off the bottom so it is definitely a different map.

I assembled the '10 TE250 on Friday and gave its first test run today.
First things first: Thank you very much to my dealer for letting me uncrate the husky and for spending almost 5 hours with him to build the bike. We went through every nut and bolt... the bike is race ready!
The bike and I are on the “stiff” side of things. The ground is still partly frozen and today was my first spin in 4 months. Nonetheless, here are my first impressions after riding it for about 10 minutes on the road, and about 60 minutes in single tracks.
I LIKE:
+ I can’t believe this bike is street legal !
+ It turns on a dime (similar to my 250 two stroke)
+ It plows through nasty stuff like a locomotive (Better than my pumpkin). Twist the throttle to straighten the bike! Fun! Linkage?
+ Rear suspension is spot on for my weight 175lbs + gear
+ Best brakes tested so far... and they are not even broken in
+ Mid and top end are great. The bike begs you to be aggressive.
+ Everything seems to be in the right place. Super ergonomics.
+ Everybody found it sexy before it hit the trails!
I don’t like:
-Its too loud without the DB Killer. Fortunately, the DB killer was in the spare parts box. The sound level is acceptable with the DB killer.
-I need a mid-pipe guard. I already burnt my pants.
-Bottom end sucks... I was expecting the front end to lift much easier. My FI settings are stock 100,100,100, no SA, DB Killer installed. I hope others are not lying when they say that the engine improves over time. My dealer will likely do Ibeat magic in the near future.
- The return oil line sticking out on the right side of the motor is very bad engineering. It is out there begging to be snapped by a branch.
That's it for now. Overall happy.

Can you tell me what all came with your "spare parts box"? Dealers here in Alberta are not saying anything extra came with bike, no "power up kit" bigger sprocket etc.. Thanks
