  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE450 Fuel Pump ?

DG Harv Serv

Husqvarna
AA Class
Intermittently the Fuel Pump does not "kick in" when you turn on Ignition . When this happens the Relay does not switch in (click ) .

I have :- Replaced Ignition Switch , Replaced Relay , Bypassed "Kill" Switch , Bypassed Clutch Switch , Cleaned and dielectric greased all connectors , removed wiring Loom and checked for cuts etc....

The Relay has power from the fuse on the Grey wire ( at all times ? ) But doesnt seem to get power on the Yellow/Green Wire from the ECU ? Could I have a Faulty ECU ? or What would tell the ECU not to switch in the Fuel Pump Relay ?????

Dealer and ibeat are about 4 hours away , so trying to work though this in case its something real simple !

Manually energize the fuel pump relay on the coil side AFTER removing the control input (ie do not drive the ECU output high from an external source)

If the pump primes 15 out of 15 times - absolutely verify the ECU socket to card intergrity, then socket to relay intergrity. If all that passes (and don't take this task too lightly), then get the dealer on the phone to bring the bike down and try another ECU from another bike.

If your going to try another ECU - be prepared to replace 2 units if something on the bike killed yours. I've seen this issue on control systems where the flyback protection ( a tiny circuit to absorb the high voltage spike a relay coil makes every time you remove power from it) is bad and the output of the electronic device can't take the constant voltage pulses. Replacing the relay should eliminate that chance.

Electrical bugs are frustrating. Are you using a scope or a meter to observe outputs?

Had the same problem one month ago with my 2008 TE 450 fuel pump, I sent the bike to the dealer and they fixed, it seems that it was a short cut in one cable and also changed one of the fuel pump relays

I am using a Meter . Thanks for your Help .

I constantally have 12 v supply from Fuse on Relay "Switch" side (Grey wire).
I also have 12v everytime the Key is on, on the "Coil" side of the Relay (Brown/White Wire).
The Yellow/Green wire on "Coil" side switches earth from the ECU ? and this seems to be where the problem is ?
(With ECU removed and "Jumper" Earth Wire works every time !) .

My question is > Is the ECU Faulty OR Is the ECU Not switching the Relay because it detects a problem ? If so what could it be ?

If this helps the Fuel Pump is less likely to Prime if Bike has been left for a while (Hour or so). After it Primes once ( by turning it on/off/on/off etc... or leaving it with Key on ) It seems to prime each time Key turned on again ????????

I have a 2010 TE450 with 206 miles and my fuel pump is not engaging as well. Going to try testing the pump and relays and if all else fails to the dealer I go. I'm just really bummed out about it, new bike and all, couldn't even get to the first service and of course its out of warranty.

Not to change the direction of this thread, but I reckon these year model bikes have a serious issue with the overall wiring, my '10TE450 has just had the wiring loom replaced (1 year warranty) due to 'FAIL' remaining on the display. How can trip883's bike be out of warranty???

Before you start digging into the loom, do your self a favor and remove the tank and then remove the fuel pump from the tank. You just might find that the pump has worked it's way out of the mounting capture "prongs" and will not funtion correctly. There are connectors in there and you need to ensure they are all solid. Mine starting acting up and sure enough, it had come out of the mount. SOme stanless steel wire and now it is back the way it should be. If you can't find anything anywhere else, and you haven't looked in the tank, check it out before you go further.

That has been the only issue with my 2010 TE 310, that and the front brake light sensor failed, but that is not a Husky part per sey.

I had problem with pump, and I checked all relays, switches and pump(connected direct to battery and it was working). Problem was in connector that connect pump to harness. It is flat four pin connector first on cable from pump. One of pins was loosen ( 2 pins for power 2 pins for fuel res). Check on connector on harness do you have 12v(when turn on key for couple of sec), if you do than It is connector or pump. Hope this will help. Sorry for my English

only a 6 month warranty for mine. I got it working but it duplicates after riding for 15 minutes or so. going to test stator and search for a short or open circuit. Thanks for the reply, I'm not ready to give up on my bike yet I really like it.

Almost all FI Husky's have a common problem with the fuel pump, not usually the wiring. The pump separates from the mount. There is a thread somewhere on this site with detailed pics on how to fix. There is an updated pump available, usually under warrantee, the new pump doesn't have the same issue and has more operating pressure. When the performance falls off and has starting issues check the fuel pressure, should be about 60psi. The bad ones I tested only had 30psi.
