  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I saw Dick Burelson riding a KTM 150 at Sumter and he is probally weighs no more than that. Lighter is better if the bike will pull you around.

Yea I noticed that also. Shame that Husky made him famous and now he's riding orange. I think the tv coverage said his son works for KTM.

WR Bob

I did the same thing. Bought a 2010 TC250 and it just wasn't for me. I'm just too old to ride a bike like that. It's fun, handles well and runs good, but I'm actually slower on it. I tried it longer than an hour and even tried a number of mods to try and fit it to me better, but it just didn't work out. I can ride fast for short burst, but just can't stay after it. You really have to ride it like a 125 2t.

I went and bought a 2010 WR300 the other day and it's working out much better. Basically I'm setting it up just like I had my WR250.

So, I too have a 2010 TC250 with less than 20 hours that looks like new for sale. $4500.00

With numbers like that, sometimes I wish I did not quit my job and move away ...

I can see what you say about at 250 4t ... they are really just glorified 125 2T with a little more speed, more grunt and much more weight ... Sometimes I catch my TXC250 making a lot of noise and not moving forward very quickly ...

The engine braking forces you to keep the throttle ON, or the bike will finally just stop, where the 2T keeps rolling if you let off ...

The 4t does go slow easily when street riding ... my CR250 Husky never wanted to go slow ...

i got a 450txc thats a lil big and hossy for the trails but im keeping it and goin to try and get used to it.....im sure a 125 or 150 is in the future at some point but for hauling through the fields around here that 450txc is rite in its enviroment imo. hope you get things worked out for ya.

I'm not a 450 guy ... just too heavy and too much throttle control .... I wish a 150 2T engine would fit in my 08 TXC250 frame :(

yes i had a lil issue with throttle while hitting tree roots going up a nice hill, after that i think i could make it as a pro bull rider  damn newbies

My TXC 250 freewheels a lot more with the additional of a Reklsue Core EXP.

That was one of my worries going back to a 4 stroke is getting lazy in the corners by chopping the throttle too early and having the engine braking slow me down.

So far I like the TXC better than my KTM 250xcw, but I've always liked 4 strokes better. I only switched because the KTM was a lot lighter than my crf250x! Now the TXC is about the same weight as my old KTM.

yep Jon Erik Burleson works for KTM
in relation to this discussion, i am definitly down sizing on my next machine...310 maybe
