  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TXC 250 1.1hrs. For Sale

WR BOB

Husqvarna
A Class
Long store short. I took the TXC out for it's first ride Sunday. I rode it just enough on the MX tracks (very ease) at TNT, to know it is a great, great handleing bike. I rode it about 1 mile on the trial and immediately realized I had made a mistake. I went straight back to the truck, called a 2 stroke buddy who confirmed that I'm just not a 250 or 4 stroke rider. Yes, I may quick to judge, but I am honest. I will be in search for another WR asap. Please see my add in the classified section soon. Thanks again to Krieg and Kelly for being my moto-physic's!

I just bought a 2010 TXC as well to be second bike to my TE 310. I like my 310 better and wish I would have gotten a WR 250. The TXC is a great bike. Just not the difference maker I thought it would be. Mine has less than 100 miles if anyone is interested.

WOW really. Very surprised after you going on how much you loved it. Just not working out for you?

Let's go riding and give it a second chance?

Hey, give me a call (704) 783-5158. I've ridden both, maybe we can go riding and sort things out? It could be as simple as changing your name to TXC Bob...

If you where riding 2 strokes before, it does take a long time to get the 4t riding style dialed in.

After a 100+ hrs on my tc450, I now rather ride a 4t. First ride on it was horrible. Give it some time, I love the bike now.

2st to 4st is a hard transition for some. Most make it with time but some just can't bring themselves to love the 4st. I have one friend like this, keeps buying one now and then and then goes right back to the 2 st. I ride the fence. Right now I am liking 2st but a year or two ago it was all 4st for me. I think if someone made a 4st with a slipper clutch (no engine braking) the switch would be much EZer.

2010 TXC 250 1.1hrs For Sale

With all due respect WR Bob, Come-on you rode it (very easy) for an hour, and on a trail for one mile, now you want your WR 125 back.
"Your scared of it". This is a race bike, Screw the (very easy) get on it, give it it's head, put it in the woods where it belongs.
You said it Moto-Physic It's all in your head. Get loose on it, put it on the cam and have some fun. Nothing feels good going slow. Shift it up let it pull, It's not a 125.
Hope to see you at the races.

Didn't want to let the day end here on the east coast without thanking everyone for the comments today. You guys are great to have around for support.

I've got to chime in.

It may very well be a setup thing...but I'm WAAAY faster on my 2 stokes 125 and 250.

My TE250 got much faster after 100 miles but I find it harder to ride in tight single track even with the electric start.

I'm not selling mine, but I think I need to stiffen up the forks a bit to fight the wallow at high speeds and I need to lower the tall 1st gear so I do not cook the clutch.

The power is good now though.

I also need to get used to the compression braking...that is contribution to the happy horse feeling on the trail.

Hey there's something to be said for the ease and simplicity of a 2 stroke especially for woods riding.
Good luck with the sale and 2 stroke search.

Ive got a '03 200EXC as well as my '10 TXC250- so I cant speak to the Husky vs KTM 2S debate, but I can say this:

Different bikes for different situations.

I love the TXC and find it to be more 2S in nature than my Yami WR250F I had before it. You have to wick it up and be aggro with it more than some other 250 4S bikes. If I didnt break mine in, tune it and dial it in for me Id hate it after 1 hour as well. Even if its in "closed course" trim and not tweaked it will perform terribly compared to 10 hrs later with a tune.

You probably wont get any more or less for it with another 8 hrs on the bike- give it a chance to loosen up and ride it some more. It will never be a 2S completely- but give it a chance before you sell it. It will be a very expensive 1 hr ride ;-)

That said- its no 2S. An old timer Katoom probably isnt THAT far off the Husky WR experience (I had an '08 KTM 250XC as well). You dont have to be psychic to know that no engine braking, tiny reciprocating and low mass centralization make a bike feel little, toss-able and planted.

You may just be a 2S guy- but give the TXC more than an hour be for you cut it loose.

I will give the TXC another ride Monday. Gerald at Upstate Cycle the saint that he is, offered a couple quick fixes to help me out. He also offered to bring me nearly every bike in his shop to ride and compare. I'll let you guys know how things turn out.

WR Bob

Glad your going to give it another chance! Not sure who makes slipper clutches for the 250's but that may be the answer your looking for. If your not familiar, they allow you to adjust how much engine breaking you get. Often used in supermoto and a few MX/SX guys swear by them (Chad Reed and others). Allows you to get the torque of a 4 stroke but the engine breaking, if any, of a 2 stroke.

Good luck with it!

Good luck Bob and remember if you need more power I'll trade you a 09 TXC 510.

Thanks 01. You think that 510 could pull my 145lbs. around fast enough?

I saw Dick Burelson riding a KTM 150 at Sumter and he is probally weighs no more than that. Lighter is better if the bike will pull you around.
