I have recently purchased my very first Husky and l simply love it. However, l am finding it rather difficult to find new parts for this bike. 2011 Husky TE 310 Anyone have any ideas... Thank you in advance!
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Yeah I’ve had my First Husky (-11 TE310 1700km I suspect 50-80Hours) for a week and a half now and ridden it for 100km-5hours.I have recently purchased my very first Husky and l simply love it. Tgabk you for your response!! I am in so california. Riverside county. But willing to go just about anywhere for parts at this point in time. What is your location?
Thank you for yourcresponse and related information. I will continue my hunt and contact the sources you have provided. For all the good itvis because l am in California. But l tell you what, l have looked and looked and looked and no luck to speak of so far. Thanks againYeah I’ve had my First Husky (-11 TE310 1700km I suspect 50-80Hours) for a week and a half now and ridden it for 100km-5hours.
yes parts are hard to find and expensive, but not impossible if you look hard and wide enough.
Dreaded starter was bad when I bought it, starter case and starter 90° transmission case both were broken. Had the port blocked off on the case.
I got a new starter and 90° gear case with the bike, supposedly $600 in parts.
but when inspecting the 90° gear case I noticed the worm gear was damaged..
Now this worm gear is a pain to find, I’m in Sweden. After searching and asking different stores in Europe for a couple days it was sold out or discontinued everywhere.
In my search I found someone in the last few years bought gears from halls-cycles in US, and checking their website out it looked like they had the gears in stock, worm gear $69. Although at checkout it was clear that they only ship inside US..
Back to the hunt, I found another store in Australia (ontwowheels) witch said it was in stock and at 69 AUD (47 USD), but of course they also only ship within Australia. so I decided to use a package forwarding service to get it shipped to Sweden. So now I’m waiting for that.
Next thing, I noticed quite a bit of clutch chatter, goes away when I pull clutch lever.
I also heard some really scary bottom end tapping/clacking going slow/low rpm on the trails.
I read up on the poor clutch basket rubber cushions, and took the clutch basket off to check.
About 5-10mm play between gear and basket.
Could not find zip Ty’s rubber cushion kit that I’ve read about, so I pulled the trigger on a $500 Rekluse basket instead
Now I’m waiting for confirmation on the worm gear, when I get it, I’m getting new sprag clutch from eBay (Poland) and most likely a ring gear as well, local store said they could source a ring gear but not the worm gear.
I’ll probably end up $1000 Down the hole by the time I get the starter and clutch back to good working order. But it’s worth it since I already love the bike! Amazing power (says race map1 on the odometer, so I assume it has the power up)
And suspension really nice as well, although I need heavier springs
Previous owner barely rode it (max5 hours) and changed oil once, definitely no oil filter change as when he showed the box of goodie’s he did not know what the small red filters was for.. I said that’s oil filters and he shook his head in disbelief how small they were lol
I quickly got some Motul 300v 5w40 racing oil as I’ve read these xlite engines like thinner oil instead of the 10w50 castrol
And tried to remove oil plug witch was rounded off.. finally managed to brake it free with small pliers,
tried finding a replacement plug with the hose bung for the drain back but could not find one.
So I got my new tig welder out, some stainless filler rod and filled in some material on the rounded edges then ground it back to 12mm shape.
Cleaned the steel mesh filter and replaced oil filter, then gave it pretty much 1 liter of lime green 300v
Sorry for the long post, but my take is that you can find parts if you look hard and wide enough
