  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE 310 First Ride Report

Husqvarna
A Class
Went for my first ride today on new 2011 TE310. Came from CRF450X Honda. I am 51 158 pounds and 5'6". Put the 50 tooth rear and removed all the smog stuff. Scotts damper and other misc upgrades. Stock suspension. Bike was awesome but as I expected when I bought the bike it suffers at high speed. Actually you can't get to a high speed without turning some serious RPM's. I don't need to got 80 so I am ok with it. If I do a long desert ride I'll put on the 40 tooth rear. Can't have it all. I can't take those larger bikes anymore at my age and size. It was 92 degress and the bike ran fine. If you are my size and weight and are considering this bike I would recommend it. The power and stock suspension are great. I was pegged in 6th just flying through the trails. Enjoy.

Wait till you pull the o2 sensor. When I did on my 10-te250 it was like night and day difference. I can only imagine the 310 will be the same way.

Did you happen to ride till the low fuel light came on? I've made 84 miles with the 40 tooth and the light hasn't yet come on but it's got to be getting close based on what I can see in the tank.

I have taken all the smog stuff off. 02sensor and catalytic plug in pipe etc. Yes Doug the bike does run great. Mileage? I only did about 45 miles today so I dud not hit low fuel light. I am embarrassed I don't know how much mpg to exPect. I carry extra fuel in bottles and I plan to buy a one gallon fuel bladder to carry in back pack. It will act like a an air bag when I crash. Or I will burn like a marshmellow****************************************! Have fun and ride safe.

With the 40t I would get about 95 miles before the low fuel warning, this gear was to tall for woods riding. 50t dropped it down to 70 miles, this is a little to low gearing for any back road riding so will be trying a 47t to see if that is close to what I want

Use the 50 tooth on the rear and fit a 14 tooth to the front. Cheaper too !!

Has anyone had experience with a 45T? For every tooth increased on counter what is the equivalent change in the rear sprocket? Also, if I go to a 45T I assume I will need to get out my handy dandy chain tool!! Heck I already have 100 miles on the bike I might need a new chain!! Time for gold for some bling!!

1 on the front is equivalent to 3 on the back :)

DavidB:

Any real issues with the bike's hight. I'm 58 and 5'8"....have been riding off-road for 40-years so don't really need the security of two feet touching.

I have a brand new TE-250 sitting in the garage (ordered & delivered from a local shop) that I have not even sat on! Will be home in a few days to try it out. I bought and plan to use the 14-50 gearing.

Thanks

Wow all you need in that garage photo is a nice blonde!!! With my Seat Concepts lower and wider seat I am fine with the bike height. At 5'6" I knew from experience I was going to have issues. I think I will order a 14 counter. The bike runs great. All smog off it, sensor, pipe plug etc. I don't plan on messing with anything on motor unless I have issues. Mapping, pipe, etc. Enjoy your bike and for Pete's sake clean that garage. I don't need the security of two feet touching I just hate falling over. On a MX track not an issue. Don't ride MX any longer. On the trails I am always jealous of the taller riders in tight technical stuff. All good.

Thanks David.........I ordered front & rears springs for my weight, the JD power surge kit, and a few cosmetic mods. As for the blond..........the wife on her Daytona 675 that she absolutly loves. :D
