  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE 511

Purchased my TE511 from Robert at the Nerang - Gold Coast Husky dealer (highly recommended for top notch service department and non pressure-cooker sales help). Changed the front sprocket from a 15 to a 13 toother out of the box and rode it home with the Akrapovic singing sweet and shamelessly (it is not copper-bait).

The ride home was a sea level to 3000ft hill climb and there is so much bottom end torque that it feels like gear changing is an option. In saying that, the top speed is still fine for 100kmh point-to-point jaunts on the tarmac, albeit with caution on those nobbies.

I changed the front sprocket for idling along behind cattle and the kids. I have to say I think the 15% reduction in top speed is not a problem + the added benefit that the bike is very happy to climb any hill from a standing start or an idle crawl without the need to burn/ride the clutch at all. Just point and shoot - this TE511 will go wherever you point it at whatever speed you want. The rear end is really well planted and there are places I've ridden where other bikes might need some speed and inertia that the TE511 will just walk up with massive traction and balance.

Wish the headlights were HID

I bet Husky have an alloy frame model on the drawing board despite the fact that the built-like-a-tank steel frame is a comfort to me.

Love the visible fuel level feature.

Ordered the ECU Map switch, but waiting on word from Husky on integration/ fitting.

Really believed I was gonna get an orange bike just to match my six year old son's KTM50SX mini. Having ridden the TE511, I can say that it will destroy any brand loyalty ideas you may have to the blue, green or orange. The bike is so refined and ahead of the curve that you will never look back.

I love this bike - you will too!
