  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

This is the picture of the pump assembly of the xlites... BTW where you can buy the high pressure plastic Fuel Filters as such ??...

Those "look" the same except for that plastic shield thing- Still appears a ziptie holds the pump inplace... I left that stock ziptie on when I wired mine on my 09TE450- changed fuel filters yesterday and that ziptie is super loose (glad I wired it). I was told that the new xlites with the different pump set ups don't have the sliding pump problem- but I'd have to verify in person as to whether I'd still wire it.

You may be able to buy another 'OEM plastic Filter' from the dealer-If that's what you choose to do. After inspecing mine with some speculation: I don't have alot of confidence in that filter- though after 3 seasons didn't have a problem either. But as Bobby points out- it's seam appears a weak spot- and mine had glue (maybe extra) peeling from it. If you sqeeze it it will bulge (not rigid). I got the filter Olderhuskrider used- Although I cross referanced and provided a few other numbers- I purchased from my autoparts supplier he cross refferanced the part numbers I gave him and handed me a Puralator filter ($3.00).
I installed taht last night- I will post up a thread with this information- so its not hidden in a "thread about something else" and if anyone finds a better filter than this one at some point they can post it there- but for now I think this is the best filter. (Fram G3606. Wix 33095, duralast FF330DL....same part with cross referanced part numbers)

there is a metal clamp holding the pump in place also. it looks just like the clamps on the fuel line just bigger.

Yes, There is two clamp holding the pump in place, there is a metal clamp and a plastic clamp. The metal clamp is holding the pump unit, and the plastic tie is only holding the electric wire to the pump body. My issue is how to replace the filter ?.. The pipe is hold by a metal spring clamp which appear need a special Plier to open it up ... Or Shall I cut it ?...Then the next thing is the filter, The P/N is 8000H0183, but does not seem anybody stock it. It is made by Sogefi Filtration. A respected name in automotive Filtration. The Filter body itself is a solid plastic, does not flex at all when pressed. It looks it can take the pressure. My only issue is to replace it. Thanks HUSKYmXJnWI, I will try to order them from Halls... One more question.. when you cut the clamps.. what clamp do you replace it with ?...just a screw on hose metal clamp?...
I have a 2011 TE310 also, would like to order the spare fuel filter just in case some thing happens as the TE250, but the parts catalog does not list the filter part number. Anybody who has 2011 TE 310 have replace them ?
Thanks

Not replaced one on a 2011 / 2012 but am pretty sure it is a totally different filter .

You can just see it looking in from the top of the Tank . Looks smaller ?

Its a completely different Pump arrangment on the 2011/ 2012 s that seem to cause far less troubles !

I don't know where Volcano Island got the part number 8000H0183 (maybe from the part)- I just mentioned the It was the same part # as on my 09TE450. Going by Parts Fiche's- the 11/12 Xlites don't appear to list the fuel filter separately from the "fuel pump" so like I said I don't know where he got the part number.

As far as how the filter looks- it looks identical- it has a 1/4 (inlet) and a 5/16" (outlet)barb from the looks of it which is just like mine.

As far as clamps- the stock hoses must be used with the stock filter- those hoses are very different from what you can find normally. They are almost like plastic and are form fitted and the OD is thin. Thus the inlet hose starts at 5/16" at the pump- bends downward and then is formed/stepped down to 1/4" to fit the filter inlet barb. Then the outlet of the filter is 5/16" and goes to the assembly/base barb which is 5/16". This is why Olderhuskyrider used 5/16" for everything and used a filter with 5/16" barbs. For that you clamp with 5/16" efi D-Clamps.

For the stock hoses- you might be able to get away with 1/4" EFI fuel Clamps- BUT The 1/4" on the fuel filter will not be too snug because the stock fuel line is so thin (OD). I have not seen smaller than 1/4" EFI Dclamps- Though they do make the cripm clamps that small (like original) appears to be the most certain style of clamp.

The part number I got it from 2010 TC/TE/TXC 250 Part catalog. it listed it in page 111, table 28. The bike is TE250 2010. I know that the 2011 Fuel pump arrangement is totally different, and it is true that that the 2011 parts catalog does not listed the filter as separate item from the assembly.
I did enter the Halls Website that the 8000H0183 is priced as $36.59. But it does not say it is a fuel filter, Anybody have an email address of Halls Cycle so I can confirm before ordering ? Thanks.

the 2010 TE 250/310 is different than your Xlite 2011 TE- though I think they use the same part- Halls will verify for you either way...
This is thier contact page and email can be found there: http://www.halls-cycles.com/Contacts Page/contacts.htm

Also; if you click the "checkout" button it will list the parts you put in your "shopping cart" and it will then call it a "filter"

Thank you HuskynXJnWI..and OlderHuskyRider...I just bought the CA Cycle Works Pump for my 2010 TE 310 and now off to the auto store to get the filter...Im hoping this will fix the issue...sure it will...thanks again.:applause:

The clamps are one time use only and they are called oetiker clamps. You have to distroy them to get them off the easiest way is to use dikes or pliers and peel the end of them backwards until the clamp released off the nub then it's easy to unwind and peel off.

They are great clamps but do require a special tool to clamp them. My Issue is as an engineer the rule of thumb to remember is metal on metal plastic on plastic. In my industry we never clamped onto plastic fittings with metal. This is a great way to crack fitting. Typically the plastic fitting will develop a hairline crack along the seam where it was released from the mold making it extremely difficult to see and diagnose. If it was me I wouldn't be using these clamps in this application.

Is this filter something that should be replaced every so often, or should you wait for symptoms?

A fuel filter fixed my te310 even though the old one seemed to flow just fine.

A $10 generic autozone paper element filter worked for me while I was on a riding trip and the husky part was not available.

always worth a try. cheap part.
