  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 te449 needs supermoto wheels...

I'm desperate for a set of supermoto wheels for my 2011 TE449,
preferably second hand or even from a different bike, KTM, gas gas, Yamaha, Honda, anything?!?!
I've been looking at second hand stuff and reading up on various forums and websites but cant seem to find out what will fit my bike, some sites say huskies after 2010 have a different hub to pre 10 bikes and some say all heels after 2000 will be fairly easy to install,
I've worked out that my axle diameters are 25mm but hub width's? I'm not sure! (being that my bike is currently at the dealer means I cant measure my hubs)
Not too sure what else to look out for other than hub width and axle diameters.
I know this has probably been talked to death but new wheels aren't an option for me so if anyone has any knowledge on this subject or if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

The rear disc mounting surface is 2mm different between the 449/511 platform bikes and previous 4 stroke huskys. You can run the older wheels just need to space out the disc. Front bolts right up 2 or 4 stroke wheels. With a little love you can mount up a 2 stroke rear as well I've done it on mine. Honda CRF wheels which are very plentiful will work with a custom front axle and spacing fixed in the rear. I've also done this too. I have not tried any other manufactures wheels. I've built 4 different 449/511 bikes for supermoto they work great.

Thanks for that!
So, would a 4 stroke husqvarna rear wheel go in fairly easy? If I were to space out the disc? It's just that I've got my eye on a set of sm410/610 wheels but wasn't too sure if they would fit. They also come with a 320mm rotor and locating bracket for the caliper, but again I'm unsure.
Would a custom axle for the crf wheel be because of bearing sizes or the width of the hub?
Sorry for all the questions!

I will have my SMR449 Rims for sale shortly. I will be keeping the SMR hubs.

Perhaps it might be possible to mount the SMR 17" rims to TE449 hubs?

How much are you asking for them? And are you just selling the rims or spokes, sprockets and rotors? Not sure how much shipping would cost from you to here in the uk!
Plus I don't know the first thing about lacing up wheels!

all the 450, 510, 610, 620 wheels are same fitment from what I've seen front and rear. As for the CRF wheels the rear bearing size is correct and you will need custom spacer or modify the husky ones a little. The front is a bit more tricky because of the bearing size but I'm sure you could pull the bearings out and put in custom ones to use the husky axle. I just made and axle that was easier for me. My Marchsini wheels are for a CRF and work wonders. THe wheels I run on my ice bike are off my 06 WR250

Great, thanks!
I've been offered a set of excel/talon wheels for a very good price,
The chap had them on a ktm for a while but is almost certain they will fit my bike, the front ID of the wheel bearings is 25mm and the rears are 20mm, if I'm correct the te449 axles are 25mm both front and rear?
So getting a spacer made up for the rear and more of the 25mm ID front bearings for the rear I should be alright shouldn't I?
Another thing is the hub width...
He is saying that his hub with is 155mm, where as the te449's I believe are 152mm,
Would/ could this work? Will the sprocket be offset too much or what? Also would the caliper take that much of a difference? 1.5mm either side isn't that much... Is it?

you need to remember rotor diameter as well because you will need to use a KTM rotor so it must be the same as the husky.

Ah I see! I will have to measure ask the seller for more measurements,
He has a 320mm rotor on the front and a relocator bracket for the caliper but would that fit? Not sure how different the mountings for the brake calipers would be if different at all?

doubt it, KTM is WP forks and your husky has KYB. It's very rare to have all these things line up with out a lot of work. Rotor offset, diameter, and bolt pattern. Caliper mounting holes, diameter, distance from each other, distance from the center of the rotor to the fork mount, offset, ect....... the list goes on. There rear will require all those plus sprocket measurements.

I have removed my SMR rims from the hubs and they have 36 spokes how many spokes do your TE rims/hubs use?

If they have the same amount of spokes you could use these rims on your TE hubs and then all you would need is a 320mm disc and a caliper relocator bracket to have a full sumo setup.

I'm not too sure as my bikes at the shop at the moment, I was looking at buying a set aswell as keeping my enduro wheels to just swap them over.

So with crf wheels would I need to space the disc and sprocket or would it just be a matter of spacing the wheel between the swing arm?
A cheap set of crf wheels have come up and I'm deciding wether to go for them or not?
Thanks

Ryan if you ever sell a set of those marchi's used I am ALL THE F%@! OVER THEM! I want to ditch my warp 9's and get the marchi's quite badly. Just cant justify the 2400$ for them quite yet.

The CRF front wheels requires a custom front axle as well. That's the big component needed, the rear is pretty easy to mate up.

Huskylove If I plan to part with them I'll let yo know. Nothing looks like a set of Marchis**************************************** They work very well too. I've head of big guys bending and breaking them, and even some people say they are too stiff compared to spoked wheels, but I love them. Anodized them this year for a different look than last year. I've had those wheels on 4 different bikes. LOL... All 449/511 platform bikes. THis is one of the photos I took for when Supermoto Central did a feature on my bike.

Thanks, I would probably get different bearings to fit the front axle, so offset and hub width is on the rear? Just because if I do I might just wait for some that are more compatible.

Looks fantastic, I bought a set from 530rr on smj awhile back and had them on this one;

For me this go around I am looking for a set to shave weight off the bike....the warp 9's are just too heavy for my taste. And tubeless has failed over and over. I figure I better go back to what I know works!
