As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Fyi, if you run 3 ounces of Maxima Octane booster per gal with Maxima 927. It won't seperate at low temps.
Does it really raise the octane?
I use 1/2 110 octane race gas in my 144 and it is expensive and hard to get.
IMO...It is a complete waste of money to use "octance booster" type product....if you are using 92 octance or higher and still having problems with overheating and such you need to go to "race gas"...the money you are spending on the "octane boosters" is really money you just pissed away for no real gain....
Now you can go have some fun! Walt = + !
Can't wait to hear your ride report.
Have you gotten into the carb to find out the jetting yet? Here's a quick one. I got up early this morning and put the Husky motor together in about an hour. I spent more time making brackets to mount a 2002 Pro Circuit pipe that Dan had in his shop. Walt and John picked me up and we ended up at the Georgetown OHV area. Dan was already there with three other riders he invited. It was immediately apparent that my new bike is now exactly what I was hoping for. A 125 on steroids! Walt's Mikuni carb was jetted so crisp and clean from top to bottom it was amazing. The WR pulls strong everywhere now and has way more power. No bog or flat spot or hesitation at all, just lots of power. I rode Walt's 165 for a while and boy is it different. Lots of power off the bottom and midrange and then it signs off. It sure works for Walt and John but it's not for me. Thanks again to Walt for all his help and if you have a 2012 WR125, never fear - the 150 kits are on the way and I will post Walt's jetting specs. I think Husky needs to hire Walt as a technical expert on the little bikes.![]()
