Other manufactures make some DI EFI so that seems fare game to talk about, understand and use current examples no matter what brand to understand what might be in the future for our brand. This is a husky forum, we talk huskys. So what if KTM is referred to. Theres a lot of KTM bashing here too. I love huskys as much or more than the next guy, have no need to protectionism, it is build inThe pointing out that someone is talking about KTM or GG is more distracting than the actual post.
As for the rumor last time i spoke with Scot was there was a lot of development going on. The next two years will be interesting and i see a strong movement back to clean 2 strokes. I fear with the KTM and other 2 strokes already pushing the 9K mark this might makes for some 10K 2 strokes and we will see if that sells or not.
Some good info here...

One interesting side note to DI EFI in the 2 stroke is it can drastically reduce the size need for the expansion chamber in some cases. A 2 stroke with a 4 stroke like pipe would be VERY cool. The pipe is the worst thing about a 2 stroke IMHO. People always complain about 4 stroke maintenance, if you think about all the pipes and fixed pipes most two stroke guys deal with and figure that in the 4 strokes start to look maintenance free.
Mercury licensed Orbital's technology in their Obtimax outboards, I've had one of them for 10 years. It's a good running and very fuel efficient engine. The huge downside is that it's a very complex motor and one little hiccup will leave you stranded. The equipment to work on it is very expensive and you need an eletronics engineer to troubleshoot it when it breaks.
If BMW builds a new DI 2T it will take a couple years to work the bugs out.
I say just put Keihins on them and leave well enough alone.
