  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE310 Race Mode??

Mudvayne

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi guys just ended up getting a new 2012 TE310 recently and I had the dealer today do the mapping on the bike as part of the power up kit they told me that if you put the bike in 'Full Race Mode' the mode button becomes useless or eliminated does this sound correct I'm reading conflicting reports about that button, I realize its purpose and it would be nice to have full race and than slightly retarded map for snow or ice mud etc!?
Thanks.

I have the same bike. The dealer is telling you stories. The ECU is locked and can't be re flashed on the 2012. Race map 1 is regular mode and map 2 is retarded for sloppy muddy riding. To get race mode the O2 sensor needs to removed and a jumper goes into the connector defaulting the ECU to race mode. Both blow IMO. I went with a TXC ECU and 12 hole injector then had the dealer {Halls Cycles} adjust the fuel map accordingly. The bike is night and day better. Costs $385 though... Make sure the cat converter is removed and open the airbox using the TXC filter basket.

The O2 sensor has been removed and all the other power up options added to the bike! I also have a 2011 TXC250 and they put the power up kit on it as well and got the fuel map spot on, my TXC250 halls a$$ so Im hoping they got my 310 right on as well..Its -15 below here in Canada where I'm at so not the best test riding conditions right now! :( I thought the 2012 was updated to the TXC injector and ecu from factory!?

**Yes richard that's me I rode Pro FMX from 1998 to 2006 for a living!

The reason your 2011 TXC rips is because the ECU is different from the one on the TE models. If you want your 310 to rip as well, order the TXC ECU and 12 hole and have it installed and mapped/tuned. Or buy a JD tuner or Power commander. In 2013 Husky switched to the keihin injection which fixed most of these performance issues. Your 2012 can rip and will if you do these things. Mine is all tuned and with a full FMF factory race exhaust it is a blast. Good luck and welcome:cheers: Nice AVATAR!

As an enthusiastic but unskilled noob, what is the difference in performance between the TXC ecu/12 port set-up, vs Power Commander and your maps/12 port? I appreciate this may be hard to quantify. At my level, I would not appreciate the difference between a Ferrari and a Corvette.

Hahaha, fair enough. When the my13's first came out, people were spending $2k to get 2hp by purchasing the GET system. Yes, insane. 2-3 hp with the powercommander and better throttle responce is there, but might not be worth the price tag to some riders. :excuseme:

I thought so. Right now, here in eastern Washington, long underwear offers a better return on investment than a power commander!

From my experience the power commanders, etc just piggy back the actual OEM ecu anyway so the gains from what I have ever noticed are sometimes worse than getting the OEM stuff set up perfectly..! Just my thoughts!

I agree and many times this is the case with JD tuners and such. As the Factory Husqvarna team and in this particular instance, including with the 449/511's, the powercommanders gave us the winning edge. We stacked the 12 port injector with the new ecu and added the powercommander 5 on top of that. We were able to tune even more power at different altitudes which is far beyond the capability of the aftermarket ecu alone.

I just thought of a couple more questions for you Husky guru's if I upgrade to the TE to the TXC ecu does the bike hours, mileage and everything stay the same and would the map button on the handlebars work!?
Thanks.

On my 2012 TE with the TXC ECU the map switch changes from 1 to 2 however I feel no difference in the performance like with the TE ECU. No biggie since map 1 rocks! My hours and mileage stayed the same or carried over however you want to say it.

That's weird is it retained in memory in the speedo I guess, there must be a little computer in there..?

Yes, a little battery too. I think the ECU shows hours and will be slightly different from the computer.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and to Husky. I'm 50 years old and have been riding for 30+ years. I'm switching from track days to dual sport this Winter. I picked up a Brand New 2012 TE 310 last weekend (screaming deal). I removed the throttle stop and the emissions canister today. As I read these threads, I'm just slightly nervous as I go forward. I'll probably take it to some local trails over the next couple weeks to break it in and get it set up for the season. I'm not planning on racing right away, just trail riding with my wife and some friends. How big of a difference is there with the full power mod? Are there any tutorials for the O2 sensor mod and removal of the catalytic converter?

I have yet to ride my (New to me) 2012 TE310 but this past summer I also purchased a left over 2011 TXC250 and when I first rode it.. it seemed like I made a mistake in my purchase, after coming home and reading about all the smog stuff added to the bike..I guess to come into Canada! I had the power up done at my local shop for $100 which included the 50 tooth sprocket, Air cleaner cage, Cat removal, throttle stop removal and resistor for the o2 sensor I couldn't believe the difference it pulls almost as hard as my CRF450 lol. I cant wait to get the 310 to TXC specs should be a fun bike and with a plate too!

**ADVRacer - search around there is a PDF file floating around for the power up instructions but it has to be re-programmed with a computer at the shop and for the full benefits of this bike convert it to the TXC parts it will be a ripper!

100% difference with the power up mode ! I also have the 12 te 310 , alot of stalling issues and hard starts when warm before the power up , after it runs and performs great.
