  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TXC 310 long term.

I finally got a good ride on the normal single track with the new fork setup. The conditions were less than ideal as the trail is dry again. Major improvement with the drilled free pistons and softer main springs. Front end was more compliant and held a line much better, it did not push or climb out of ruts. I put the improvement on par with the improvement of the addition of the Merge racing springs. Next time you have your forks apart drill the 4 holes and you will be impressed.

Hi there i drilled the 4 holes (3mm) as read the 'later' KYB needs this and the earlier has 2x 5mm but ive found out the forks are the same as YZ250 06-10 so are they earlier or later? Also the drill holes should only do their job if the seal allows oil to pass it dont they?
I really want to try the merge racing spring but im in the Uk and its costly.
I have a set of .43 springs to go in tomorrow and will replace the bushings also so fingers crossed she rides good and my arms last longer!!
Did u keep the valving/shim stack the same thanks?

They are the later version. It makes one air chamber instead of two. The seals are not supposed to leak but if they do it will not split the spring cup with this modification. I did not change the shims on mine.

Hi thanks i spoke to a suspension place today and after looking at the compression shim stack they said it looked quite alot and maybe removing 1 or 2 of the largest ones to try 1st before fitting the spring.
Id like to do one mod at a time and i know if u fit lighter springs you also need to alter the shim stack to balance
Hopefully ride tomorrow and then maybe fit spring after doin shims to try!!

I just got off the phone with Danny at Zipty and have a Rekluse Core EXP 3.0 headed my way. Looking forward to riding with an auto clutch again. I even have a trials tire sitting in the living room ready to mount. It took me 2 years to go back full circle and get back to a trials tire and auto clutch combo I once raved about.

Got my first real ride on the Core EXP 3.0 Very nice! The setup keeps all the factory friction plates and added the EXP ring with friction (so you essentially get an extra friction ring installed). There a few quarks. Like others have posted the lock washer is the wrong size so you can/have to reuse the stock lock washer. You also have to remove the chain or front sprocket to get the clutch slave cylinder off.

The whole Rekluse unit is very high quality and the adjustable slave cylinder is very nice. The clutch cover does not come with a gasket so you have to use the old one. I recommend ordering in and using a new one but I did not know this in advance so I reused the old one. I used a razor blade to remove it from the stock cover as just trying to pull it off would tear it.

I found improved cornering with the Rekluse as the transition for off the throttle to back on the throttle exiting the corner was smoothed out and did not upset the front to rear balance as much as stock.

I was a big fan of Auto clutches on my old bikes but held off on the 310 as the stock clutch was so good I did without it. I wish I did it earlier. As a side note the stock clutch after 100 hours looked great. Fiber plates looked new and the elastomer clutch cushions showed no sign of play.

Glad you are liking it. I have a couple rides on mine but nothing intense yet due to crap weather. I will give it a good heave ho next weekend at the MTDR rally.:applause:

Update i have reduced my outer oil level to 290 as per MXA article on the TC as not getting full travel, results to follow!

http://motocrossactionmag.com/Main/News/MXAS-2013-HUSQVARNA-TC250-MOTOCROSS-TEST-THERE-IS-9569.aspx

I have also mixed 5w and 2.5w Rock oil suspension fluid to simulate the maxima 5w cst as per chart

http://transmoto.com.au/comparative-oil-weights-table/

....I now have full travel on the front with 290ml oil level, i also removed the first 2 compression shims and fitted SKF oil and dust seals, i am quite happy with the results and still have the .43 springs to try at a later date!

If you have not tried out the Iridium Plug for the 310. I highly recommend it.

NGK CR9EIX is the direct replacement for the 310 (TE TXC).

It seems to work well all over but what really stands out was the slight stumble at 1/16th throttle is gone. After 3 very high paced rides (6 hours of motor time) it just plane works. (Although the only time at 1/16th throttle was loading the bike on the truck:) )

Hi mate ive been reading the CR8 EIA-9 is the correct plug, slight differences and fitted as standard some say

Mine is a 2012 yours may be different. Stock plug on a 2012 is

NGK CR9EB

the CR9EIX is a direct replacement for the CR9EB

+1 I read this thread and replaced mine with a CR9EIX and the plug I pulled out was a CR9EB. I've got a 2012 TXC310

Can I ask about gap? are you running the same 8-9mm The previous owner of my bike looked to be running around 7.5mm

I do not touch the gap on Iridium plugs, I run them how they come out of the box. I do not remember what it was.

I bought two and both were right around 7.5mm which is just slightly less gap 8-9mm which the manual calls for. I'm a bit more of a car guy but 8-9 I'd also say is a larger then normal gap and lastly 90% of the people who buy plugs don't bother to regap them so I'd say you're in the norm.

The maintenance sheet says every 50 hours so for most people that's not to often so the slight higher price for these over the stock isn't bad.
