  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TE310 hot starting

okay i did the same ride as I normally do, First gear walking pace for some of it hill climbs and the like, good recipe for overheating. 28 degrees C

I changed coolant to better quality, and got rid of the thermostat and got a copper pipe to join the rubber hoses, which didn't work as too close to the fuel tank but found some other hose that worked, and plugged up the other hose. The thermostat is fully integrated, so you can't just simply take out the thermostat bit as it is a sealed unit.

Anyways didn't have any issues starting on the ride.
So at this stage I have put it down to a faulty thermostat.

Hope this helps someone****************************************!!

I am still thinking of putting a fan on the other side for this kind of riding, good to keep things cool, and have already purchased a 220 CCA lithium battery to go in,,, as well as the spare temp sensor.

Michael.

Also might be the efficiency of the better coolant alone. Running stock hoses and thermostat and inline temp sensor myself and ZipTy XF+ coolant alone was my only diversion from stock. It seems to me the less pressure, the less heat generated and more efficient cooling besides fewer hot spots, etc... Granted I would also be running thermostat less if I liked the silicone hose fit but my results show the coolant makes a major difference in these bikes. I opened the radiator to verify it was passing fluid at temp.

Vanuatu doesn't have much selection for coolant full stop, at the time the only stuff I could find was chinese, Looks thick and colourful enough. Not to bag me but it was all I could get. I noticed after running now that with the new coolant there was no drop in the coolant level, with the other stuff I had to add in a couple of hundred mls a go after it wouldn't restart. I go back to Aus next week so thinking to buy some better quality stuff again. I don't need the thermostat with the temps here, so will leave it out anyhow. I looked at the http://www.profactoryhoses.com/husqvarna-tc-te-250-310-silicone-radiator-hose-kit-pro-factory-hoses/ for $96 the way the AUd to the US is going everything is balistically expensive in USD, and US companies seem to usually charge $50USD to post a single nut most of the time.

Pro Factory hoses .com only charged me the USD 90 to the credit card, so looks like it may be worldwide freepost.
Did another intense ride and bike never had any issues starting.
I think you are right on coolant, when it heats it goes out of the tank and then doesn't circulate??
So having better quality coolant is the go, will try to buy some top shelf stuff when back in Oz next week.
