  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TXC 310 starter failed

Russ Henry

Husqvarna
AA Class
Only have about 400 miles on the bike and the starter stopped working today.
The kick start worked flawlessly. Any recomendations as to how to fix this ?

Warranty? Have your dealer run the VIN to see if the recall is in play.

I sent the VIN to my dealer last night. This morning I unloaded the bike and hit the starter and it started instantly. Turned it off and it kept starting with not issues. All the connections are solid.
Any thoughts ?

Check the battery connections again and load test the battery. Click, Click, Click....... Is usually a sign of a dead battery or low voltage.

Is it really possible that the battery would go this soon ? It is the same battery in my 11 TXC 449 and that has been going strong

I would not be so quick to slap on a new battery replacing a relatvely new stock battery. When it clicks I would right away pull out the kicker and gauge the effort to kick it over. If it's stiffer then normal (almost locked out) that may be the issue. When new I could literally stand on the kickstarter and I could only bumpstart. Click, click, click went the starter. Once the valve was tightened, more than spec showed as acceptable, the engine spun freely/fast, and I could easily kick with no body weight on the kickstarter... Just a firm kick. Slowly the last couple of rides mine seems to be reverting with a hesitant start and a stiff kicker.

The bike kick started very easy. Pull in the clutch and one smooth stroke and it lit right up

2nd ride on my TE310R and starter quite working. Kicks over fine just thankfully. Thought battery but it proved to be charge when I pulled it! Dealer will be getting a call as soon as possible.

Just got done putting the charger on both the 310 and the 449.
The 310 battery made a click, click sound about every 10 seconds. The 449 made no click sounds at all and both fired instantly.

I am leary about leaving the battery installed, when charging on the 310R with it's particlar wiring. That clicking is switching on and off relays and with a litihum battery being charged, it seems to prime the injector and flooding the bike, as it clicks more rapidly. I removed the pigtails from my battery but it's an Earth X so less need to be on a charger. The clicks are apparent w/any battery and unique to this bike as far as I know.

**This is using the Battery Tender jr, as I use on all my vehicles.

Agreed, I dont like to charge when plugged into the bike harness unless using a trickle charger made for that purpose....and even then Im leary.
