    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi Guy's,

Just picked up a new TC 250 and need to get the bike running right. Dealer changed the main to a 168 and kept the stock pilot and stock needle in place. Mid and top seems decent, but low end is very sputtery. I have the AS 2 turns out currently. Most jetting settings I seem to find are for the TE 300 and don't know if those settings would be good for my TC 250 or not. New to 2 strokes so any help would be appreciated. I do know how to change the needle and both jets if need be.
 
What is your needle code, clip position, and pilot jet? There's not really any absolute stock settings, as the bike comes with several needles and jets for differnt conditions.

1. You should buy a new 38mm carb from either the TC125 or KTM 125/150. This will really make the engine scream!
2. You must get the 2008 Suzuki RM250 NECJ needle set on the 3rd clip from top to bottom.
3. I run a 42 and 170. Ran fine during the hot and humid summer days @ Sea level and temps between 80-90 F.

(3) Side panel. We’re big fans of the Husqvarna FC250 body styling. The white/yellow/blue scheme harks back to the glory days of Husky. Unfortunately Husqvarna broke a cardinal rule to design – form should always follow function. The one-piece number plate and airbox cover may kill two birds with one stone, but there is a problem. Designed for use on the enduro models, the FC250 airbox cover is sealed up tighter than King Tut’s tomb. When test riders complained that the Husky didn’t feel as responsive down low as the KTM 250SXF, we removed the side panel and had them ride without it. They reported a vast improvement. So, we grabbed a cordless drill and bored five quarter-size holes into the left-side panel just in front of the lip enclosing the air box. For good measure we drilled two more holes at the top of the side panel. The result was remarkable. We noticed an improvement throughout the power range, including throttle response and over-rev.

(4) Airbox. To be more specific, the left-side panel prevents air from entering the air box. Break out the drill and let the engine breathe.

Just put in a 40 PJ and 175 MJ with the NECJ needle in the 3rd clip at sea level. Have not had the chance to ride it yet though.

I forgot to add:
-a Billspipes will give you noticeable difference in power too.

When I bought the bike back in April, I rode it stock and hated the crap out of it to the point that I was regretting selling the 2008 RM250 it replaced. Jetting was off big time. I followed other people's advice and put on the setup I mentioned above + the billspipes. Now I love it.

About two months ago I crashed and damaged the billspipes leaving me no choice but to replace it. I replaced it with a pro circuit platinum 2 (tougher pipe, 18gauge vs 19gauge); however, because I liked the billspipes so much I bought another one too. Being scared of crashing again, I installed the PC and rode it for some hours spread through various weekends. One day I had the billspipes with me at the track and decided to just install it. I put it on and ohh boy.....the bike was mean. The comfort of the extra toughness durinng a crash of the PC platinum 2 clouded my judgement over the performance gains the billspipes had.

I haven't take it off.

Seems like most here are running a 40 or lower PJ...did you ever try a 40 pj? Also, most seem to run 172 or 175 Mj...did you ever try either of those? Were you ever able to get the stock carb jetted pretty good before going with the 38 mm?
 
I have a 2015 tc250 and played a lot with jetting this summer. I ride around 3000 to 7500ft and the best jetting i have found is 38pj 160 main and necj clip pos 4 right now. I will move to pos 2 or 3 when it gets hot. Plug looks good and no slobber
