Bummer/yikes. Never seen that happen in years and years of MX where any debris was sucked into the carb through the vent tubes. Were your vent tubes ever under water/mud where they could have sucked up debris? An offroad enduro friend who seems to really know his bike prep for nasty conditions always routes his vent tubes, except the float bowl overflow, up underneath the tank and if possible into the steering stem. Since meeting him several years ago, I have run mine on other bikes into the steering stem where the air is clean. On the TE300, I have them run all the way up the frame backbone and then turning backward, taped down onto the top of the backbone, since they can't go into the steering stem. This makes them as high as possible to protect against water intake as well as dust.
