• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2016 te125 or 2017 te150 ????

Heres my dilema... i can pick up a 2016 te125 on sale. I have a fresh 2016 150 sx top end on my work bench. I can swap it out and have a 2016 te150.... Or should i fork out the additional $1500ish for a 2017 with electric start, and explor forks?
In my mind its a plus to have the kehein carb that im familiar with.
It is a negative to have the 4cs forks, though im not familiar with the new explor forks.
The electric start isnt a deal breaker. One less thing to go wrong.
Is one bike much heavier than the other?
Are there major performance differences?

I hate to break it to you.... but your '16 SX top end isn't going to fit on a '16 TE125, as they are different engines. It will fit on a '16 TC125 though. I have a '15 TE125(same engine as '16 TE125) converted to a 150. The 150 in the older engine and is bore and stroke, so you need the crank, as well as the complete top end.

So just to confirm, i can put my 150 cylinder on a 2017 tc125? ... if so, that may be an option too..
Man i love these small bore bikes. I have a '16 150sx. Im thinking i can convert it to offroad and ride the tc on track days...
I wish WB could have worked his voodoo on the ktm motor. My 165 was the best weight to power ratio ever...

Yes the '16 or '17 TC125 will take the 150 cylinder. Walt (WB) did just that to a '16 TC125, before he got his '17 TE150. Walt looked at the possibility of a 165 conversion for the new 150, but the cylinder design only allows a modest overbore. Look at the TE150 threads to see the mods Walt and other riders are having good luck with....
