• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2016 te300 JD Jetting kit

HS507

Husqvarna
A Class
I was kinda taken back when i got kit in mail and quickly realized that they only use one pj38 no matter temp or altitude? And just change needle with temp and main with altitude. I always understood that pj changes too. They have me a bit rich on pilot lean on main (off charts on factory manual) and then colored needles. Im new to this, just try to rap my head around why rich then lean? Anybody familiar with this science?

I know on KTM Talk, people are pretty down on JD kits. Rich Lafferty has told me that he and his son Ryder's baseline jetting set up in their TE300's is.... NOZF needle, clip position 2, 35 PJ, 165 MJ. This is at sea level, but they come up and ride with me at 2000' and don't change it.

Personally I know a binch of guys that use the JD kits and like them....

Just because the "chart" suggests something doesnt mean its right for you.... humidity, temp, alt and riding style all change it.....

i personally didnt have much luck with Richs jetting and the JD specs were ok.... I like rich PJ it makes starting easier (I remove Estart).... I like crisp on top because its a 300 I dont try to use the rev limiter.....

Yes, i will try it out, im not some pro rider looking to squeeze every once of performace, just want my bike running correctly without spooge. I will look up this NOZF needle, what bike is it out of?

I know on KTM Talk they love the NEC"x" series needles from Suzuki. I rode with Rich on Friday and his 300 rips jetted his way. The difference between Rich, Ryder, other pro's and us is... They seldom spends much time between 1/8 and 1/4 Throttle and we spend more time there than we think.

The NOZ"x" needles are stock for a 150, so I tried one when I converted my TE125 to 150. It launches from closed throttle, but stay 1/8 to 1/4 in tight woods and it blubbers along. I would think a mortal 300 rider lives right there throttle wise and a gear high.

I would almost say tune the PV back some so you can use the power.... I noticed it was much easier to ride after that.... also Rich/Ryder 300 has a milled head....

His needles can run pretty good. But don't think the one pilot jet is good for everybody everywhere. I had one of his kits in a KX, the kit came with a 45 pilot. I eventually ended up running 35 and 38 pilot jets.

Yes my manual cslls for 35pj and 38 fir winter. The biggest change his kit does in contrast to manual is main, manual says 172 for summer, jd 162 for summer and 165 below 45degrees. Thats a drastic change in main, this is what is baffling me i guess, their needle must make up difference in way its tapered.
