  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250 / 310 as dual sport, primary bike.

13 / 50 here on a 2012 TE310, I don't think I would want the 13 / 40-something on the trails. Also I've been running 1050 ml of oil in the 310 with no problems. I have the 2nd Gen Zip Ty oil drain back installed on the 310.

Both our TE310 and TE511 don't really like high speeds on the road. We usually go 45-50 MPH on asphalt between trails.

Actually got pulled over for "Driving While on Motorcycle" recently. Cop said we were going 45 MPH and hindering traffic. Cop's eyes got big when we took off our helmets - two old people........I told cop that the people in back of him were not going to pass a cop - that it was his fault traffic was backed up - he didn't like the attitude. Said he could give us a ticket - I asked him if he thought presenting a 58-yr old couple in front of the judge for going too-slow was really going to fly - he left us alone! It's funny how a few, ok, many, gray hairs can bail you out of problems with Officer Obie......Be safe out there!

I just moved to Honolulu and had to sell the KLR due to weight. I am using a 2009 TE 250 as a commuter and trail bike. I have a bigger CS but have not installed it yet since I don't need high speed for my commute. The TE will be my primary road bike until I get my vintage project finished.

Does anyone have the LeoVince exhaust on there te250 with the spark Arrested fittted to it. Is there a link showing how to fit. Just ride bike to work and leave at 5am and it's a bit loud.

if it's loud, you're revving it too high ! I have the 2013 310R, and it has the Leo Vince FULL exhaust, but it's been de-corked....(at the dealer) I always leave from my over-crowded condo-plex very early AM, on weekends, all summer long, never got any complaints...I just don't go crazy until I'm at the nearby woods, a few miles away....

I don't believe they make a 14 tooth front for the Red Head TE310 or I haven't found one yet. So far only 12 and 13. I am currently running a 46 rear and go from 12 to 13 front to fine tune as needed. Allows me to use same chain. Slight pain changing front but not bad.
