• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well Eurofreak and jkm decided to go on a little ride with me and my brother and 2 B's this last Sunday. The weather was pretty nice out, around the high 20's and nothing but sun and blue sky's. The snow was still a little on the deep side on the north side of the hills (9-14 inches+) and about 4-8 inches deep on the south side of the hills. Enough of me talking and lets get to the pics is what you all are probably thinking right about now, so here we go..... This is are first stop and we were all wondering where 2 B's was at. 2 B's has only been riding dirtbikes for about a year and this was his first time of riding in the snow,so take it easy on him:thumbsup:

Where the heck is 2 B's at guys,,,oh here he comes.

So we continue on and go down that hill cross the road and start up the hill on the other side (the north side of the hill). Well with the combination of having 3 bikes in front of me and the snow being a foot deep or more it was a long trek up that hill and next to impossible to find a new line to ride in so you were constantly fighting with the bike just to keep your balance. We all got up to the top of the hill and stopped and waited for 2 B's, after about 10 minutes went by we decided to go and look for him, so back down the hill we went.

We meet up with 2 B's sitting down in the field at the bottom of the hill. He said he was having a real hard time making it up the hill, so we went back over to the south side of the hill hoping it would be a little easier for him to learn how to ride his bike in the snow, remember this is his first time riding in the snow. We pretty much stuck to the fields after that and made a little trip up the dirt road to the airport to check out the drifts. Here's eurofreak

A big Thanks goes out to you guys for making the trip down to come and ride:thumbsup: and you guys are welcome to stop by any time you want:cheers:

Scooby - Thanks for posting the photos. What a beautiful day to be out. Glad I was able to make this one. I got my March issue of Trail Rider Magazine today and Pete's in it, along with Fran and Harv. ........jkm

Wow...nice photos! Looks like a lot of fun can be had playing in the snow. The photos posted in a crazy kind of order, but I really like the 5th one (I think) of the rider plowing through all the trees with snow on the branches. Nice stuff

Makes my toes kinda ache looking at all that white stuff, but it is fun. I know, I've ridden in it a few times even down here in So Cal.:D

Thats cool,,what was Pete in there for??? Winning the enduro last year and bumping up a class I'm guessing???

Great post Scooby,

Nothing better than a bunch of friends surfing through the snow.
Love the pics. (if I could only spell)

Thanks for the invite Dave:cheers:
I enjoyed myself!
Great chili afterwards. You can't have just one bowl:thumbsup:
Thanks to your brother for the hospitality as well.
Winter riding is a lot of fun. The snow feels like sand. Lean back and gas it.
I think I'm in Trailrider because of the NE Husky gathering. My racing days are pretty much over.
I'm not a has been-I'm a never was:lol:
Looking forward to riding again-love them hills****************************************!

If I remember correctly I think Mac was doing a write up on the NE Husky Gathering for Trailrider now that you mention it.Well if you like the hills, next time your down I'll take you over to the hill climb, it is a pretty steep hill with a dip in the center and a step up about 10 feet from the top of the hill. The second part of the hill (right after the dip in the hill) is steep enough that you can't stand up on it. You'll probably like it,haven't been able to get Robb to try it yet,and when we went on are New Years day ride, the owner of the warrendsriders website went over to the top of it and looked down and all he said was "WOAH",,then he came down to the bottom of it and watched my neighbor go up over it and he shook his head and said "I'm not gonna try that" its actually not that bad, just looks a little scary the first time most people see it. I'm still laughing about when we stopped the first time on our ride and Robb showed up and told me "I was wondering where you guys went",,,I was like,,,WHAT,,,just follow the tracks:lol::lol: I actually think he meant to say something different, but thats how it came out. He's a good guy,and fun to ride with, and does some funny things when your out riding with him.

Scooby - The Trail Rider article was about the NE Husky Gathering. Written by Ron McElroy.

Yeah Robb was amusing. He was quite impressed with the traction you get from screwing your tires. Anyone willing to ride in 25F weather is all right in my book.
The hill sounds fun. Will you catch me when I roll back down the hill? :busted:
Mac is the guy who goes to the ISDE's right? He was the one taking pics and Fran said he was going to write the article. I'm waiting for my Trailrider copy to show up. Joe Chod sent everyone a CD with pics and blew up a good shot to hang up too. His girlfriend took a ton of pics-good company too.

No I won't catch you at the bottom, the reason being is that there are enough trees on the way back down the hill to slow yourself down on:lol::lol::lol:, actually the only person I ever saw roll back down over the hill was a neighbor that use to live in the area tried to make it on a 200X 3 wheeler:doh:. Mac rode out to the gathering with Fran this year, at least thats what I had heard. I already told the boss(the person I work for,not the wife:lol:) that I wasn't gonna miss the gathering this year,,, no matter what comes up... fury1 posted up the pages from TR about the gathering on another thread on here.

yeah, I saw Fury's post too.
All right, if you won't catch me then how about a good beer after I've entertained everyone:cheers:
Hopefully more riding soon.

I can do that....Whats your flavor???

We had a great time Norm- Scooby and his brother are great hosts.

Beer- that's a whole 'nother topic Scooby.
I am an adventurer in the brewing world. I like Belgian beer the best- a la Abbey Leffe, Corsendonk, Fin Du Monde, etc. A bit strong for some but tastes great! We
We'll talk...

Actually I don't drink a whole lot of beer because I usually am full way before I even catch a buzz from it,so I usually stick to the harder side of things. That and the hard stuff doesn't give me hangovers the next day if I accidentally drink a little to much the previous night. Don't get me wrong though,,, I do like the taste of a good beer, just can only drink a couple at a time. Now my brother on the other hand usually makes them disappear pretty fast.
