  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

4 U TE/TXC250 guys

Those of you having problems should try Kelly's or SandHusky's numbers and video your results. I'm sure Greg (Ioneater) will try those numbers as soon as he gets his Semco package! I can't imagine why everyone is using vastly different parameters bike to bike. Is 96/103/105 with sparkie (Ride) that similar or different to 108/110/110 with no sparkie (SandHusky) or to 106/112/110 (ZipTy) with a different exhaust? I guess it depends how you ride it and what type of riding. If you have the bike running good for your style of riding in your riding area, I guess it doesn't matter how different the numbers are.

Got 1100 miles on my 2010 TXC 250. Stock motor / exhaust, SA in and CO settings of 96/103/105 and it runs very good and is getting 32 mpg on tighter single track at 200-2500 elevation. A very slight hesitation on the bottom end I don't even notice any more. :excuseme:

David,

I tried my settings on another local TXC250 and it was to lean. He did modify his muffler some though.

There is never going to be the perfect set of parameters...just use them as a starting point.

Maybe everyone should list their ideal parameters as such:

1. CO1/CO2/CO3
2. Typical altitude
3. Riding area (tight single track, technical, technical desert, sand desert)
4. Riding style (clutch happy revver, lugger, both)
5. Header
6. Silencer...mods?
7. Sparkie and if so what size?
8. Other engine mods
9. 2010 TXC or TE 250
10. Rider's weight with gear

***seems like too much crap to catalog for everyone***

Maybe Husky NA can pony up an ECU with a complete Ti Leo Vince exhaust for all of us gringos on this side of the pond,,,,,:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Probably wont happen, just being silly.....worth a try I guess :D:D

I thought I read somewhere that Kearney is running the Leo Vine Ti exhaust with stock ECU and the previously posted EFI settings...Can anyone confirm him using stock ECU?

Anybody looked into that Simon Body EFI system that was in the March Dirt Bike article?

If in doubt.....ride it like a 125 2t.......Mine seems happy ridden liek that and to tell you the truth, I like riding it like that....

Also, does anyone have trouble with shifting from 1st to 2nd? I seem to hit nuetral a lot, usually at the wrong time....I think it might be the shifter tip not far enough out for me, causing me to short shift...Might try that Zip Ty shifter tip, I think it extends out the shifter....Any ideas?

Mitch.

Wouldn't it be nice to get a husky that runs great tested in a magazine?
Well, I have been trying to do do exactly that with no help from husky whatsoever. I already have my powercommander 5 and my autotune, I have talked with a few friends at Factory connection about setting up the suspension, which is looking like no problem with the kyb's. Paul Clipper from Trail Rider magazine has showed interest in trying the bike, as he only lives 10mins from our shop. So, now all I need is a bike. Here is where the problem starts, I can't seem to get even a date when my 2010 TXC250 should be here, can't get a reply from Scot Harden, Nothing! Someone has to know something. You think Husky would be all over it since I have footed the bill for all the "make it run right" stuff.

Oh well, I'll let you guys know if it ever shows up.

I had ordered a TXC back in december, got a tip they werent coming in till mid march(probably more like april/may),ended up finally getting a TE250 yesterday, they have sold out of the first batch of TXCs that came over, didnt think they expected that, but im sure they are trying to hurry up the next batch of bikes over here as they are losing sales, but the TE are just as potent with 50 state legal title,IMHO will make a great race bike for me this year

Yeah but the TE's have the single chamber forks, and in NH anything can be made street legal. I'm going to hold out for the TXC, we'll see. Rob Keith @ Husky says 2 weeks.

he also told me that in january:)

yah my 09 TXC 250 is street titled in Ma. ,but you cant get an inspection for it,and they are threatening to connect the new registration to 7 day inspection like they do with vehicles now,I just didnt want to take a chance for a four pound difference and a set of forks! I have all the street gear in a box,and can always put it on if needed,as all the wiring is just plug and play

I figure if Ben Smith can race on the open chamber forks,so can I!
Drew at WER can make them work very well.

I'm not convinced the the TE and TXC motors are identical. Cam timing and ignition timing as well as flywheel weight matters on how they rev out and deliver power. I bought an 08 TE. I wish I had bought the TXC. True the motors may be more similar for 2010 than the older models, but who can say for sure.

I respectfully disagree with you. Any bike from the factory is going to need fueling adjustments for a particular altitude or riding condition. What easier way to make these adjustments than to plug in a lap top and have it done in seconds. No more removing the tank and twisting the carb to get to access to the jets and so forth. Yes, it may be a bit more costly now, but all new technology is expensive until it is assimilated into the main stream.

THE WHOLE REASON YOU HAVE EFI IS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO ADJUST FOR CHANGES IN AIR PRESSURE****************************************!

If you argue this then I'll simply have to walk away from this thread. Yes you may need to tweak EFI after changing an exhaust but once you have it set, adjusting for temperature or altitude should NOT be necessary.

Yes, I see your point on the atmospheric changes. But I'm noticing my motor going through changes as it's getting more hours on it. I went riding today. The thing is really starting to loosen up and rev better. But, it's also starting to develop that low hesitation that others are complaining about. If my bike had a carb, I would have to jostle with the carb to get to the jets, with the efi I can plug in and tweak some numbers and see if it does any good in seconds.

In race mode there is no feedback from the exhaust, so the ECU has no idea how efficient is the burning inside, or if altitude or temperature changed. In race mode, the EFI is an easy to tweak carb, without all the moving parts and fuel circuits that you have in a carb. Regardless to the problem which we discussed, I prefer it that way (the race mode EFI way).
On my last ride, after some more iBeat messing, and with my new exhaust header, the "hesitation" was much less niticable, which gave me much more confidence.

I agree about the shifting....I hit neutral often.

You can't ride it like a 125...dithering the throttle will make my bike stall on the bottom....the ultra high 1st gear does not help.

On a side note here, my dealer, Ridersville Cycle, has a 2010 TXC 250 on the floor.

Thats very tempting, only an 8hr drive for me. Now my wheels are turning, Hmmm. Thanks for the info

raisrx, 0:15 - 0:16 in your vid - thats where that glitch is, but you opened the throttle too fast - If you hold it on the 2700-2900 rpm range you can really hear it acting like if it got water into it...
