• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Could someone tell me pls if gears from a 1989 430 wr will fit a 1987wr 400 ? i have a wr 400 ,and iam trying to get a stock of parts for it as i dont plan on buying anymore bikes, just keeping this one for good, thanks for any help cheers

I am under the impression the swedish bikes ended in 1988. You are in another country so that may not be the case. I would find some way to verify the frame and engine numbers but cases and engines can be swapped. In my experience in 1987 the clutch got an extra spring and attached via a nut and fold over washer so the input shaft changed I imagine most of the rest remained the same but you would have to study the parts sheets. https://www.halls-cycles.com/Catalog/Halls-Cycles-Husqvarna.aspx for some parts sheets and http://www.huskyclub.com/model.htm for some number checking. They list a 430 for 1989 and 1990 with the same engine code as 1988. It is just a bunch of stuff on the internet not a copy of some origional document.

If the engines you have are correctly identified the answer is yes they will fit no matter how you mix and match with the possibile exception of the primary drive which I suggest you study the parts sheets. Pretty much anything back to 1980 will fit in those cases so long as you change enough donor parts.
