  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

449 / 511 recap and info

I just had a smoking deal land in my lap... TC 449 $3,900ish or some model (not real sure) of the 511 (I'm hoping for a TXC 511... both HALF PRICE... brand new 2013 s...

I have been studying and just have a few quick questions...

can the 5 speed TC be made into a WR 6 speed? and does the TC have lighting a lighting coil?

after i get my picked tomorrow I'll tell ya all where they are but thanks in advance!

Also dont bother with the tc for the road. You need the 6th gear and parts are hard to come by so to add lights and all that isnt worth the cost/effort.

Bikes don't get to the dealership for a week or more... 449s of the TC variety... and a couple 310s... at least one 250 TCi all severely reduced... once I have $ down on mine... I'll tell y'all where

6 spd. gear box could be installed but a wide ratio 5 spd from the BMW G450X could also go in. Either way the cost would be prohibitive though unless you find an engine being parted out which do come up on ebay time to time. I've seen complete used 5 spd G450X transmissions with all the shafts and related components go for as little as 350.00. Ask Tinken?

There is also an aftermarket company making a really wide 5 spd gear set for the Kymco 449 engine also.

These were 2 separate posts from another site. I don't know if the guy ever got it together or not but at the time earlier in the year. I did look at the website myself and the gear sets were listed.
See below.

Nova Racing Transmissions Ltd. in the UK is building a wide ratio gear set for the G450X. The gear ratios are: 1st 13 - 33 2.538:1, 2nd 17 - 27 1.588:1, 3rd 20 - 22 1.100:1, 4th 19 - 23 0.826:1, 5th 18 - 26 0.692:1. The gears will use the original shafts. The first sets are scheduled to be manufactured in February, 2014. They can be contacted at www.novaracing.co.uk.

I have two of the G450's. And I am buying three sets of gears at ~$1600 each. You will have to check with Nova for exact price. I took them one of my cases and transmission so that they could reverse engineer the gears and make sure that they would fit.

The first one I will put together with a 14 tooth countershaft and see how it feels. I do dual sport riding in Southern Cal, so I want a rock crawling first and still be able to run at 65-70 mph on the highway with out redlining the engine.

These gears may fit in the TC449 cases based on the fact that the gaskets are the same for both engines.

I did check on a six speed for this engine. According to Nova it is possible, but the cost would be ~$10000.

They sponsor Pro Supermoto Husqvarna rider Sean Butterman. From what I've heard they're an awesome dealer regardless of the deals

I did not know his name but I have met him... yep... from what I hear a great dealer... he is definitely hooking me up with an awesome deal...
