  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So Motosportz Mike who does not get out to ride enough and had not tried the new 449/511 platform yet and tired of me gushing about them borrowed a TE449 and we went up to a local ride spot for some testing and evaluation. Mike is a former husky ISDE 6 days dude but does not get out much any more. Anyway this area, despite the pix we took, has a lot of everything, smooth trails, very rocks trails, super tight, open, roots, rocks, loose crap snow, dust etc. Great place to try it out.

I'll let Mike tell his experience but lets just say Mikes current bike is up for sale shortly

These are great do it all bikes.

So do think the te 511 can do lot of street miles like drz 400s with very little upkeep or is it still just a dirt bike with a plate like KTM exc line. I ride alot around town on pavement which the drz is good at but want more power and suspension with out giving up the 1000km oil changes. I do about 5-10 miles of highway running at 60-70 mph about 5 days a week also. I hope the 511 will work. Thanks for all the reports.

It is more of a dirtbike with the plate (in fact a fantastic dirt bike). Holds a little over a quart oil. Does fine as DS bike and no issues with 5-10 miles commutes. I have done 20-30 miles pavement EZ. But it is not an old school, slow reving, holds lots of oil DS bike. The flip side though is it is a VERY confident off road bike that is cool with street miles as well. IMHO.
