  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

510 owners.... tight going

nice video! I'd ride the 510 there but much rather use a light 125 if I wasn't doing any other riding besides the trails right there that day.

Was Belfair #2 yours also? THat looked even tighter.. Things do look different though when the leaves are off the trees.

Here are a few more tight woods shots taken in the upper mid-west all of which I ride the 510 on. I only took photos when it straightened out enough to stop and photo. In addition I rode another 200 miles that day and had 14/47 gearing.

Maybe I should keep the 01 WR250 for the really snotty events and get the 510 for the rest!

That would be smart. Perfect Bush bike...

The 510 is a great bike... but it ain’t no Trials machine.

To have a second bike to whip around in the real nasty stuff would be a great Idea.:D

I'm 5'10 155lbs w/o gear and a real green off road rider. She's a handful for me no matter where we ride up here:) I'm adapting to it more every ride. I literally lost my grip with the throttle hand from acceleration on whoops on my last ride with Kelly & crew and somehow didn't fly off the trail in the the abyss. Clutch is your best friend. I'm going to respring it eventually to get a little more sag with my scrawny butt on it however, it's the best offroad bike I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Has taken lots of falls and still keeps ticking. That single track area at Belfair nicknamed "Chernobyl" kicked my ass for the day! Great experience.

You guys are NUTS

How the heck can a 510 be an advantage in that stuff???

Truckin got my chips cashed in. keep truckin, like the do-dah man....... just keep truckin on.

Truckin, Im a goin home. whoa whoa baby, back where I belong, Back home, sit down and patch my bones, and get back truckin on.

I had a 510 and loved it. What some have printed is true- it will go just about anywhere, and it is a ton of fun in the open stuff. That incredibly tractable torque and rocket-on-demand is intoxicating. I wish I still had it......as my second bike.

Most of my riding is in tight woods in attack mode. My TXC 250 just does it better.

I'm an honest 5' 8" ( no shoes ) and 170#. I've been riding 250 two strokes for the last 9 years, but I'm not having much problem with my TE510 in that sort for stuff. It did take a few rides to figure out how to use such a big bike in it.

As mentioned before, if I have trouble with the bike it's more to do with the seat height.

Jeff and FAST1's pix look like what's around here.

This is one of our events with more open going but still it has a fair share of tight single track.

Good ride. :applause:

I'd like to think my 510 would work good in that race. While some think the weight feeling the 510 gives off is a handicap, but I think in stuff like that it teends to be an advantage. Rut and things that tend upset my old 250's, the 510 just seems to ignore.

I cannot imagine a more dangerous situation *for me* than to have a 510 with lowered gearing and good traction. My throttle control is not that good :cripple:

That comment only applies to *me*.
I got a $100 that says you're wrong:D:cheers:

It applies to at least one other member on here :cripple:

Hope you are getting healed up! It's been a few years of healing for both of us. I'm about as healthy as I'll ever be at this point - except for the lack of exercise, and that is entirely my fault.

Looks similar to what we ride here except we go around rocks instead of bushes...

Jeff that vid just rocks.:thumbsup:

That's the kinda stuff I like. Still pretty hard on a 510.....But my GG Trials is all over it.
It really make it a bit easier for the first person I find cuz your always waiting...even if just for a moment for who's ever behind ya.
That way you get to catch you breath ...a little.

Man I gotta get my helmet cam working.

If all I rode was tight nasty woods, the 2 bikes I would consider are the Husky TE310 or the KTM XCW300. The 510 is more suited as an open racecourse or desert bike. I'm 6'1"/215# and it's a lot of bike in the tight stuff.
