• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

510 Te Model 1984 Looking For 2. Oversize Piston

gost

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi everybody,

my name is Günther and i'm an old man  from Germany. I recently found a Twinshock Thumper that has to be rebuilt.

Cylinder / Piston is worn, so i have to go to an 92,00 mm bore. But at the Moment nobody in Europe (not even Andy at hva- factory) has a Piston that size) .

Maybe anybody knows, where or from whom i can buy one.

My englisch ist a bit rusty, so maybe i can refurbish that also ;)

Welcome Gunther, I'm not very familiar with the 510TE, my interest is primarly in 70's stuff. Of all the Husky sources I've dealt with I've never seen any info on a piston for your thumper. Maybe someone will respond with an idea.

Wossner makes the pistons for the water cooled 510's. I not up to speed on the 510/4 stroke Huskys. Maybe the water-cooled model piston will work for the air cooled motor? Compare the wrist pin sizes and the stroke and compression height.

Marty

pistons for the water-cooled Models are different because the cylinder is nicasil- plated.
Air cooled cylinders have a cast sleeve.
So piston rings are different - depending on the material of the cylinder, also the thermal expansion of the piston should be different

But the tag on the box says 1983 and from the looks of the tag I'd say it a Wiseco tag so it looks like what you need. Theres always risk when buying parts for a vintage project.

the linked piston should bei the right one.
I Just wanted to explain, that early air cooled 4 strokes
need a special piston and can't use those for water cooled motors.
