  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 6, 8 or 10 oz FWW for CR165????

Thanks for the advice, but I already bought the 12oz weight and its sitting on my bench. I could also send you the head and tame it down, but I'm having fun with it and really want to try it on the track next Spring.

I had a chance to ride the bike yesterday with the 12oz fww and it certainly helps the lugging ability of the motor. I was chugging up steep stuff in 3rd much better than before. I also never stalled or was concerned with stalling, so I'll add that to the win column as well.

Once the motor is into the power its like its not even there. It pulls just as hard and revs out like usual.
I like it and its certainly not coming off (even for MX), but I wish they had a heavier one.

Is there any way to add a dual map ignition to this bike? I remember some talk about it on the 250/300's, but cant remember about the small bores.

Back to the topic of fww or some way to tame for trailee riding. Brandon, find yourself an 08 or later KTM 200 xcw cdi and wiring harness. All the plugs fit the stock husky CR ignition and get the ktm remote toggle switch. In the lo setting it is perfect for tight gnarly stuff with no hit and mellow. Bolt that and a 38mm lectron and you are ready for any riding with only a flip of the switch without having to mess with fww or reducing your compression.

This...

Later,

Duh! I read that last week, but comprehended it as swapping for the KTM ignition without the dual map switch. My brain is fried and I'm running on fumes these days.

I'm going to look into it. Can anyone answer as to what kind of effect this ignition has on the husky?
Will it be just as aggressive as it is now in the 'aggressive' mode of the dual map ign.?

I had trouble telling the difference between maps on a ktm 200 - personallly I would leave it as is
Did you have to put a spacer on the cover plate for the weight?

Rode this bike yesterday and I must say I'm very impressed... I liked it more than I thought I would with the Fatty Pipe, and High compression... Still barks HARD though...

The high map may be even more aggressive than the stock map. My impression is that there is much more difference between the maps with the 165 than with the 200. :excuseme:

Thanks for the input. I'll check ebay for a used one, but I'm not gonna blow too much cash on one.
What I really need is a WR165 and a CR165, but that aint happening!

rockadancer,
yes I did have to use a spacer that came with the fww. Everything bolted on perfectly and works great.
Just wish it was a bit heavier.

I've just got a cr 125 with what I am told is a gas gas fww.
It had to be machined so bolt could go on.
Looks pretty big to me . Not sure what it weighs must be 16 0z?
Haven't ridden it yet
