• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

630 headlight on a 610?

Don't know if this has been covered yet....

Obviously the stock 610 headlight is nearly useless.
How about buying a 630 headlight (or just the bulb) and fitting her on a 610?

You can make any headlight work if you're willing to snip wires and install new plugs. Maybe this one will be plug and play, though. It certainly looks sharp.

For clarity, I meant TE 610.
I hear the SM 610's have better headlights, but maybe those could use a 630 upgrade as well.
In theory, this seems like a much better and possibly less $$$ way to go than the aftermarket light kits I have seen.
I think I'd go for those 630 blinkers as well. Nice!
Add a $50 removable S06 spitfire windshield and you're stylin'.
I added a couple $20 driving lights (Platinum Burners) from Wally so that I could see the trail at night. Still need more light to go fast, though.

Anyone tried this yet? How plug and play is it? I just got a TE610 2008 and I'm toying between this and the TrailTech X2.

Just fitted the Trailtech X2 HID after a year of putting up with the stock candle, It is awesome being able to see where I'm going at night now.

I talked to trail tech and they said "if your headlight comes on instantly, (as soon as you turn the key on) your stator can run HID." If your headlight has a delay when you turn the key, then you can't run HID. Your stator would need replaced.

What I'd ideally want is a reasonably bright onroad DOT halogen normal beam and extra bright non-DOT offroad HID high beam - so that I can get by onroad without blinding oncoming cars but also hit the brights for those moments when I am covering some miles on dirt at night. (I'm not a fan of night dirt riding, but sometimes its a choice between riding in the dark or sleeping on a pile of rocks on an exposed hilltop).

Is it possible to configure the X2 like that? Or is the HID version all-HID? The other alternative is to get the street X2 and then get some additional lights to mount to the handlebars.
