    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

630 Not wanting to start

Hi,
My 630 200km on clock today started playing up when it was time to start. Usually when you turn the key on you here all the electronic gizmos fire up and the fuel pump prime etc, well today it didn't, I pulled the clutch in hit the start button nothing!
Had a bit of a fiddle, to get it to start now I have to push the engine stop button first???? then everything starts to happen, pull the clutch in and hit the start button and up she fires. Anyone else had a similiar problem
 
I might be misunderstanding your problem, but when you are turning the key on, is the engine kill switch in the on or off position?
On my bike the injectors don't prime untill the key is turned on and the kill switch is depressed.
If the kill switch is pressed and you turn the key on, the light and speeo will come on, however the injectors don't prime untill the kill switch is depressed.

Yeah, sounds similiar, not sure if my bike Australian delivery has a different style kill switch to yours but on mine the engine kill switch is just a button with no detent, you push the button to stop it then it springs back to its normal position, interesting what you are saying is pretty much exactly what my bike is doing though but my button doesn't stay in.

Hmmmm, sounds a little strange? I was riding a TE450 and my old man a TE510 in aus and both had the 2 positions kill switch (exactly the same as my canadian delivered 630), although my old man did have his kill switch fail after a 5 week trip due to it not depressing. Might be worth seeing if there are there any other Aussie delivered 630 owners that can confirm how theirs operates as it could have been faulty from the factory?
 
Sounds as if your bike is entirely as it´s meant to be. The kill switch is a button that´s best left as it is and forgotten. Turn the engine off with the key. Then start by pulling the clutch and starting with the lecky button. If you use the kill button, it has to be pressed again to release it. And if you forget to turn the key, the lights will drain the battery.

Not to sure about that. Because if you turn the key on and try to start it, it won't start without pushing the stop button first, or if you stall it you have to push the stop button before it will restart. It has not always been like this.
 
I never use my kill switch. Like organ donor said, I start/stop my bike with the key. That's how I've done it with all of my bikes.
 
Ok well it looks like I have been having a blonde moment........ You guys are all correct with what you are saying about kill switch being a two position switch. I'v worked out if you give it a quick push it doesn't lock in the off position (Which is what I must have been doing for the first 180km) But if you push it a bit harder it locks in the off position.
