• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mounting on the forks up top seems just fine if you have the room. I would recommend against mounting on the forks down low. In the event of a spill, if you have solid mounts hanging off your fork, you could do serious damage on a very low speed fall. To me, that is not a risk worth taking. I've never crash tested this theory, so this is just me speculating. Maybe someone with more experience can pipe in?

If you mount your bracket directly to the clamp, as in your pic, do you need to substitute longer bolts? I ask because I looked at this option yesterday and noted that not much bolt protruded through on the inside of the clamps. Can you lose 2mm and still have all the thread engaged? Another option for me, since I've installed Kouba Link and dropped the front end on the tubes, is to use an aftermarket clamp above the stock triple. Any thoughts on that? Certainly it would be easier to make a little bracket as you have done.

I used bolts about 10mm longer, they protrude through slightly on the inside but they engage the full thread for maximum strength.

Great setup. Got a trip planned ?

Just doing over nighters at the moment with as much dirt as possible. Been to ingle wood via rabbit proof fence, kyogle via Richmond ranges, Emmaville in a couple of weeks.
Need to replace the oem rear rack with tube steel before going for big trip. Cairns will be the first big trip.

Theres a lot of good places to ride in cairns and there are about 4/5 tr650 getting around. the husky shop up here is the best.

I just finished installation of my Barkbuster VSP handguards, and I wanted to share the results. I went with the standard kit for 7/8" bars from RevZilla and a set of Acerbis triple clamp mounts (part # 2125650061) to avoid the problems with brake lines that many have reported. The install was straight forward, and I didn't even have to supply any additional hardware as the kits came with plenty of options.

[Sorry for the orientation of the pictures.]

Hi AJM, the screen is off a ktm Part Number: 76508065000, 690 I think?.
Have a look at "New Windscreen" thread, post 23 to see how I mounted it. Its a nice screen, but if you already have a husky screen its not much of an improvement.
Ive been eyeing off another screen from "Screen for Bikes" there in melbourne , you can choose the colour and there about $120 I think from memory. And they look much more effective.
Regards pc

Installed screamin demons on wednesday. Impressed with the build quality and sound, meaty. It all came together in under 45 minutes. Thanks Viktor

I run one on the Strada.

It moves the wind off the chest partly into the face and creates more noise. (I'm 5'9" and wear a Shoei GT-air.) Worth it in the cold. Not sure in the summer.

Ratel chain guide.

Ratel does the mount and a work of art it is; you source the guide as a standard Husky part. AOC in the US seems to be the cheapest option for us Down Under.

Note: I've assembled it wrongly. The thin steel plate under the 3 fixings should be just inside the guide box. And it needs to be pushed back.

I have the same "screen for bikes" screen, just trim a little off the top, go for a ride and see if that helps- if not trim a bit more off until you get it to the point like mine were the aiflow is across the shoulders not into the helmet.
