  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC 701 Enduro It's official!

^ This is probably because the owners know the threads on the WP shock body are soft as butter and they are afraid to put a tool on them and have the treads fall apart and ruin their shock. I have seen this first hand. Search 690 forums and you will see what I am talking about.

Well the lock rings on the 701 are plastic...

Why would you remove the shock to set the sag mark?

It's pretty tight in there and you can't get to the load and lock rings with a spanner tool. The "easy way" in such a case is a long flat-head screwdriver and a mallet. But on the 701, the lock rings are plastic and you don't want to tear them up by hammering on them...

You should be able to get to it by flipping up the tank, but I haven't seen that done personally.

A soft piece of pine works good then tap with a hammer. On my 501, it's a pain and i use the pine slat but my 300 xc w is easy with a enduro engineering spanner. I use a 3/4"×3/4" × 18" long pine slat. It's sacrificial and won't damage the plastic lock rings. Having the rear wheel off the ground helps too.

On the 690 the seat comes off with the key. You can then pivot the tank/subframe upwards by removing the two rear "subframe" bolts. I attached tie downs from the tank to the ceiling beams and just moved the bike backwards which worked perfectly. I can't remember of you can get to the shock easier, but it's so easy to do its worthwhile. I had my suspension done by the shop.

Hi, I'm thinking to change my Strada with 701 or 690. Do you know somebody if it is possible to replace Husky instrument panel with one from KTM. It seem to me that they did everything bit better with Husky except this. I'd like to know when I'm going run out of fuel.
