  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

72/73 125 shift detent

Husqvarna
AA Class
I recently read here about putting the later 125 shift drum detent in the early 125.I've looked and searched but can't find the thread again. There was something about removing something in the cases for it to work. appreciate any help finding that info

Yes,did a complete swap. It's back together now. It's shifting on the bench, see how it goes when I fire it up.

If a six speed is replacing a five speed then there are two places that need to be trimmed but since you're only switching out the shift detent on an existing six speed then I would say no modifications are required.

rode it today, shifted perfect.I'm putting together a classic class 125 mount. It will be outside the box.Pictures to follow in a couple weeks. Going up to Dilla end of August.

Looking forward to the pics. Will you be riding or showing your bike. The only event I'm familiar with at Unadilla is Pro Motocross on TV.

Got it back together, runs good, real good.Still have to do the wheels, but out of time for that right now. See how I do at Unadilla next weekend

The weather was not good for that Saturday so I passed. Too much effort to go slop through the mud. As for the bike,I feel it has great power. Running a 32mm carb right now, like to try a 34. Shifting is perfect with the later setup. Would really like to swap back and forth with an elsinore. I feel it's that fast. There was a lot of development put into this motor.

how do the "rules" around later model parts work in the US..? later model cylinders and heads like you have fitted..

The cylinder is a non-reed 74,the head's advantage is cooling. I have a 74 head if needed.
