• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

75 WR250 project

Restored a 1975 CR last year. If you plan on riding it a lot and are not hung up on keeping it stock, suspension upgrades made mine a lot more fun to ride. I went with Works Performance shocks (expensive but what a difference!), and had gold valves put into the forks (made them more plush but less likely to bottom out). I can hang much better with the guys on modern bikes now. The stock motor has plenty of power for my abilities... Good luck! Looks like it's in decent shape. Hope to see some pictures along the way.

I have a set of fox gas shocks for it. I've heard mixed opinions about the gold valves. I'll look into them for this bike. Right now it's a bare frame. I painted it last weekend. Now I'm waiting on parts.

The Gold valves require tweaking if you are not a top level SX rider. Most complaints are of recommended settings being far too aggressive for their realistic riding demands.

75 250 WR's are great bikes...and legal for AHRMA Vintage class MX or XC if you are interested.
If you are looking at rear shocks...I'll offer this suggestion: Go with a rear shock longer then the stock 12" Girlings.
I used 13 1/2" Progressives on mine...a less expensive alternative then the Works...but certainly not as good.
Thor Lawson or WER (Drew Smith) can service your Fox shocks if needed.

The 13 1/2's raise the rear a bit...which serves to tuck the typical Husky raked-out forks back in a bit...which helps for riding in the eastern woods.
Best wishes on your project!

I think my fox gas shocks are 13 1/2. I'm waiting for bushing sleeves for 10mm bolts so I can mount the shocks.

If you are going to race it in AHRMA Vintage classes...
Note in the rule book that you'll have to fit some rubber travel bumpers in the shocks to limit the rear axle travel to 4".
13 1/2's will still work out very well for you...and the rubber bumpers won't hurt the ride.
