• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

78/79 wr rear fender needed

Does anyone know of a good source for the 78/79 wr rear fenders? I need one for my 79 250WR and my next project a 79 390 auto. Thank you,

Marty

Hi Michel, Thank you for the reply, I checked Husqvarna -part.com web site but only found the 1980 and later WR rear fenders. The 79's were the older style for the 79 and earlier frame that has the tall round rear frame loop. I did email them to see if he has the fenders but not pictured. Still waiting for his reply.
How's your automatics collection and projects coming along? I am just finishing up a 78 390AMX, just need a couple of small parts to be done.

Marty

The 78 wr rear fender is a falk ?
My 2 autos are waiting the springtime.
Send pics of your 78 390 amx.
Michel

Michel, That is correct the 78/79 wr's and autos used the Falk enduro rear fender but it is the Falk fender unique to the Husqvarna. I received a reply back from Husqvarna-Parts.com and they do not sell the Falk rear endero fender. Hopefully I can find the rear fender. I will get some pictures of my 390AMX soon. The weather here in Oregon is cold and snow right now. I just need to rebuild the tank petcock and install the counter sprocket and chain and then it will be finished, just waiting for the petcock rebuild kits and hose nipples I ordered.

The 78 and 79 rear fenders are different. One is for the ML frame, and one for the MM.
Fibreglass rear falk fenders for the ML framed WR's are available in France. I know of no other manufacturer making them at present. The Husqvarna Falk (ML) WR's shape is unique. There are other Falk plastic replica's out there with the correct shape at the rear. But the curve of the front section is wrong, and it does not fit correctly.
I know, I spent 10 years serching !

You are correct there is a difference in the 78 and 79 wr rear fender but in a pinch the 78 will work on the 79 and look right. The 78 and 79 rear fenders have differrent part numbers also. The 78 WR falk fender is part #151814901 and the 79 WR/ACC rear fender is 151815101 and would also be correct for the 1980 390ACC but no other 1980 models. I have looked at the Penton falk rear fender and they are close but if I remember right the front of the Penton fender would not fit the 79 frame correctly. I remember it also took my a long time to find the original falk rear fender for my 79 250WR and then I lucked out and a friend purchased a 79 390WR and wanted to vintage race his (MX) so I got the rear fender that was good. To make my 79 390ACC project correct I need to find the rear fender. I haven't started on the 390ACC yet but just gathering the parts I know I still need and I think the rear fender is the last part. Maybe someone has a good used one?

will a 15 18 145 01 work?
The # 15 18 145 01 is the standard rear fender used on all the ML and MM frames and didn't have the mounting surface built in for the tail light. So for this restoration of my 79 390ACC I need to have the oem tail light and the correct fender to mount the tail light. If it was not going to be a "correct" restoration then I would just use the standard rear fender. Thank you for asking,

Marty

I have a NOS part# 151815101 Falk rear fender in great condition that I would sell.
I also have quite a few other parts I will be selling, primarily '82 to '84 ... tanks, forks, wheels, ITC shocks, front and rear axles, muffler, decals, footpegs, front brake cable guides, front brake shoes, '84 WR headlight/number plate, seat base, ignition cover, 40mm fork wipers, flywheel tool, '78 Auto tank, etc.

That lower one won't fit the ML framed Husky's. It's for a KTM/Penton and a couple of others. The curve is wrong and it is not long enough. Ask me how I know.
My Falk rear fender came from RTR Moto in the U.S. This is an exact copy of the original Husky one and fits perfectly. Not cheap as he will only sell a front and rear together. But the service is great and the quality is fantastic.
