• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'82 500cr grossi clone?

If we're running a vent hose from the ignition housing I would run it up the frame and go under the gas tank. I wonder if a stone gas filter on the end would keep the dirt out?

I vented mine using nylon tube running into the air box, drilled and tapped a 1/4" thread screwed and epoxied a 10mm pneumatic pushin fitting into the stator cover with 10mm hose to airbox.
Another option might be to run another hosd connected to the exhaust at an angle to create a venturi effect pulling the air from the air filter through the stator and into the exhaust.

bigbill - I'm running a neat little vent utilising carb breather pipe. I tuck it up behind front rails....

I am working on putting a 430CR engine into an 83 CR frame with the 82 maroon CR tank. I have no need for a 500 but would love to build something that was never built by Husqvarna.

I ran a 430 motor in my 83 frame for a while. Very nice combo. You'll need an '83 430WR exhaust and then just bolt it in.

I already have the 1983 430WR exhaust. It will be shared between the 1983 430WR I am building and the 1983 framed 430CR. My chances of finding another 1983 430WR chamber are slim. Yes I know I can get one from HVA but the price is out of my reach.

I want to build a grossi clone just to have one. A Sunday rider with the grandson. Unless my kid races vintage, post vintage etc.

Yes happened to me on new build. All viton seals are not the same. Had one blow just after break in. Have better luck with the Italian ones.

Halls has them
