• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

83 Cr500 Air Box

Husqvarna
B Class
In need of an air box for my CR500. It’s in cherry condition so I would like to find a clean one if possible. Color is white. Mahalo from Hawaii.

Krylon and Rustleum both make white plastic paint, You have to take what you can get because I will not sell a piece that keeps a bike from being completed.Neither will anyone else here.

I may have found one. 84 CR 250. Fit? The micro fiche I keep trying on Husqvarna OUTLET keeps crashing so I havnt been determined if the part numbers cross. 84 was still twin shock I think so would imagine it would work. But if anyone know please drop a line. Mahalo

Correct me if I'm Wrong but are not all the 83 and newer Air Box's White and the previous years Black ? Since the Frame changed with the new Shock Mounts the Previous Black Boxes won't fit. When I built my 82 Works Bike replica I had to use a White Box to fit my 84 Frame, and the real Works Bike had a Black one.

Yes, the 84 250CR box will fit the 83's. I have some good used 83-84 boxes available. You can PM me if you wish.

83 and 84 box same except 84 box has a slight "swoop" cut on 1 side to let it breathe better. (was a trick in 83 to do to stocker and they did on 84 ones. Also need a 500 specific boot from box to carb as 500 is bigger carb than the 38mm on all other models.

And that will be the harder to find item & $ then the air box

83 and 84 airboxes interchange. 84 with cutaway on top also enables removal and installation without removing rear wheel, bonus.
250 and 430 airboxes all differ from each other regarding location of hole for airboot, carb size difference and 500 sits much higher because of taller barrel.
If all fails make airbox from allu sheetmetal, nice works look.

I use these filters on 500 a/c. increases velocity, and airflow and together with Mossbarger reeds makes for a very sweet, crisp and responsive 500. mainjet increased in my case to a 420. idle jet #40.
measure carb flange bell for size diameter, cant remember offhand.
Also makes for better seal and engine longevity by eliminating airboot and orig filter seal. just a tidier and easier setup. Get 2 filters, so you can change in a flash when required.
While you at it, get their deep draw drainplug and mainjet extender and mainjets sizes from 380-440. together with proper fuel flow is essential on a 500 that gets run at WOT.

Cheers and i hope another cranking 500 lives again.
