• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

84 CR250 Issues?

I have my own ideas on the cosmetics.....pics when I get there. Lets just say Im not a fan of the milk truck look.

Got the front brakes freed up and working (thanks to Bill for the cable). Trying to remove rear shocks....ITCs are frozen to the swingarm mounts.....cant get any leverage on those little allen head holders so probably need to cut them free, mount new bolts and put in new heim bushings...

Front end had a Trelleborg on it with a german tube inside....tire is very worn out and starting to crack and the tube still holds air...wonder if it is all original. Rim is in such good shape it may have never seen a tire iron before.

Well, the vintage husky bug just bit you! Congrats on ur new old bike.

Sounds crazy but I enjoy redoing bikes just as much as riding them.

Was it one of them old red tubes?

Get the nuts off the lower shocker bolts and put some wood on them and give them a bit of a tap. some heat will also help to free them up, you shouldn't need to cut them, hit them with plenty of WD 40 first.
Just rode a sloppy wet event so don't worry about the graphixs too much. it can be showroomed when your too old to ride:D

Tube is black, has a Made In Germany stamp ....in English :-) Maybe Metzler?

And I agree on the tinkering vs riding. If I could ride out my back door like I did as a teenager that would be one thing, but I can walk to the garage during a commercial break and then stay as long as I like.

use "Deep Creep"on those shock bolts, let is soak in & tap like Suprize suggested, don't cut them off , cause there not standard bolts.

I gave up and cut one loose....bolt is frozen to the heim joint. I will marinate the other one a bit longer and see if I can pop it loose. I see that Halls shows the bolts available on their website for $17 USD each....or there are nice Titanium replacements from HVA in the UK for considerably more. Will that make it a 'works' bike it I put titanium on it :)

Deep Creep.....havent heard of that one....been using PB Blaster for a few years and this is the first time Ive had any trouble freeing something.....and that includes a bunch of rusty old Volvo parts.

Im already too old to ride...or at least my knees think I am many days... Yes making it pretty is a backburner project, I would rather get it dirty first.

I used PB Blaster too, but that stuff stinks, i found Deep Creep a while back when i had a bunch of rust motor parts, i found it works better
& doesn't smell up the garage. http://www.seafoamsales.com/deep-creep/

Actually MCMaster Carr, sell shoulder bolts that will work & there sure not $17 each:censored: , i've have them on my 84 510 .

ive been using deep creep as well...found its much better than pb blaster...takes heat a bit better too!

That would be sweet if you'll part with them.

Voila....you da man!

Shock bolts sunning on my deck in Oregon. Ive been soaking the mounts in Deep Creep for a couple of day....time to break out the extractors and finish the job.

Cafe Huskivites are the best. Many thanks to dartyppyt !!!

Your welcome. Good luck gettin them old ones out.

You might need big hammer, then have to sound it out like PVDUKE would!

Bolts are finally out.... mo heat, bigger hammer. Got my brother to help; he has the big tools. Now to replace all of the bushings and bearings in the rear end and put it back together.
