• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'87 CR250 Power Valve

Take the cover off,rev the motor and the selonoid should pull the valve linkage open. Not the best design, the engagement dogs wear pretty fast and the valve hangs down into the exhaust port.

Dave is a great guy to deal with . He is top of my list . He has what I understand has a real nice 87 , CR250 power valve bike for sale . Reading one of the tests that was put on this site the 87 ,CR 250 bike has a great motor . And what I understand there were very few of these bikes made alone what was shipped to the states .

350 were made.I still have mine,it was on display in 2010 at the Husqvarna tent at VMD in Ohio

At the display. Before I made it a garage queen I ran it in some enduros.Great power from the long stroke motor. Was working on makeing the power valve more reliable, but moved on to other things and bikes.

It never really got beat up that bad.I took it down to the frame and kind of repainted and polished it up for display.I like to find a new metzler MXR front tire and a new OEM seat cover. If your power valve fails on you PM me and I will give my thoughts on improving it.

Gunnar Lindstrom was the main man behind the Husqvarna display at VMD.The display info sheet that he put on the bike stated the 350 production number.I think it's in his book"Husqvarna Success" which is a must read for any Husky guy.

Vacuum has nothing to do with the operation of the valve. It's all electrical operation.I know Maico 500 uses some type of a dash pot in it's power valve operation.God knows why that bike needs more power!

We have some parts for these too, including ignitions and new cylinders etc...

Had an email from a man who worked on this project in the Husky factory. He has a WR400 l/c with a valve - as does Sven-erik Johnsson....

I have a picture somewhere.

Andy Elliott.
