    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

An open and sincere apology to everyone for my extended absence.

Technical and personal issues have kept me off the internet for quite some time, and this has been an ongoing for many (8+) months. I believe most issues have been corrected.

If you fall into any of the following categories I deeply apologize:
  • You used the ‘Contact Us’ link and you have not received a reply
  • You sent an email on any topic, including sponsorship, and have not received a reply
  • You started a Conversation on Cafe Husky with me and have not received a reply (sent a PM)
  • You are human and have been making perfectly reasonable posts and have not had your account approved
  • You left me a voice mail and have not received a reply
  • You ordered Cafe Husky Merchandise and have not received a reply or what you ordered
  • You became a Contributing Member and have not received a thank you from me in your profile
I especially apologize and thank the Cafe Husky moderators who have kept Cafe Husky running… and I especially want to thank rajobigguy who, based on what I can see in the Logs, as been doing a tremendous amount of work. Thank you for keeping Cafehusky.com running!


I started this thread in General (Main) instead of Cafe Office so people could see it without being logged in...

August 7th 2012 edit: I now have correctly working phone service...

August 17th update: while the phone works awesome, the acoustics are intermittently horrible - still working on that.
Internet service now working for the time being, and have been replying to the huge number of emails in my inboxes. Obviously I need more reliable internet connection and have been researching options.

September 5th 2012: working hard on emails, only a few hundred more to go, each one takes a considerable amount of time.

September 12th 2012: still working on emails...

October 7th 2012: FINALLY I have reasonable internet access. :thumbsup:

It was taking between 30 seconds and several minutes to navigate CafeHusky depending on how many pictures there were to view - even reading/writing emails was quite painful!

October 24th 2012: All email replied to that should be replied to. That took hundreds of hours...
 
I actually did noticed your absences
That blue coffee mug used to be a dominant sight on this site, usually accompanied by some wisdom to the right of it....
But that's ok Dean, the great people you put at the helm are doing a fantastic job of steering this ship to the promised land, so hopefully you'll get your shiiiiistuff together soon and come back to play with us, we promise to stop talking about you behind your back :D

A great forum with exceptional members means it runs smooth. Good work. Hope your get your stuff straightened out. Thanks for the great site.
 
Ok... I now have correctly working phone service... needed to switch from ATT to Verizon. First time I've had reliable phone service in 8 months.
